System restrictions
Students at Carlton are forbidden from using any other email system (i.e. hotmail, sasktel, shaw, etc.) on school computers
Students cannot easily transfer files to other students (restricted access to their home folder)

Students can be given a gaggle mail account that allows them to send email and a small amount of data transfer storage
Teacher responsibilities
You are agreeing to the following by setting up gaggle mail for your students:
To create and delete student email accounts To monitor the use of the email regularly To enforce school policies about student
accounts

Logon to gaggle mail using the Student mail link from Carlton’s home page
Logging on
Use your assigned user name and password
All Carlton email address must end with .cchs
Setting up new users for your class Select Student Admin|Add Users Scroll to bottom of the page and use the
Create User Keys option Enter the number of user keys you will need
to generate

you set yourself as the administrator for these accounts
Set digital locker to only store private files
Leave the other options as default
Press [Run] when ready
Setting up new users for your class Highlight the list of generated keys using your
mouse. Copy this list. Paste it into a word document, and save it.
When it is time for your students to get their mail account, give each student one of these key numbers.
Student accounts
Students must follow these rules when creating their email account. You will need to enforce this.
User name must be in the form firstinitiallastname.cchs, for example if there was a student called David Partner, then their email would be dpartner.cchs
Password is their responsibility, but should NOT be the same as their school password
Student account monitoring
After students have created their accounts, they will show in your list (Student Admin|Student List), as you are their supervising teacher
Check that they have all created their accounts with the correct name (must end in .cchs)
Check regularly that students are sending appropriate messages. Any inappropriate language or topics will be blocked, and you will get a notification about this.

Turn off blogging, unless you understand the concept of blogging and are also prepared to monitor it for all your students
Select all the students in your list, then use Edit Blog Settings and set blog access to No Blogging
