5TH
NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FAIR
Theme: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: A ROAD MAP TO
NATI ONAL TRANSFORMATI ON AND ECONOMI C PROSPERI TY
1.0 PURPOSE OF THE FAIR
The National Universities Commission, in itscontinued efforts at research and development
activities in Nigerian Universities, is organizing the
5th
Nigerian Universities Research and Development
Fair (NURESDEF). The main purpose of the Fair is
to provide a platform for Nigerian Universities to
showcase their achievements and development-
oriented research projects and programme. The 5th
NURESDEF is a collaboration between National
Universities Commission and the Federal University
of Technology, Minna.
This Fair will improve on the achievements of the
past editions and make an attempt to deliver on itstheme: Research and Development: A Road Map to
National Transformation and Economic Prosperity
by inviting some non-University based participants
drawn mainly from Research Institutions, the
Private Sector, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises
(SMEs) to exhibit on competitive basis.
2.0 OBJECTIVES OF THE FAIRThe Objectives of NURESDEF are to:
Exhibit innovative research projects and
their output from Nigerian Universities;
Highlight innovative and creative efforts of
Research and Development in Nigerian
Universities;
Provide opportunities for networking and
collaboration among institutions and
between them and industry as well as
Institutions abroad;
Provide a forum for industry to select
research outputs for further development,
mass production and commercialization; Provide avenues for attracting support from
the organized Private Sector and
International Agencies for on-going
development-oriented researches.

3.0 BENEFITS OF THE FAIR
The Fair will: Provide excellent opportunity for the
academia to demonstrate their research
capabilities to industry and potential
international partners and Donor Agencies;
Provide opportunities for researchers to
share their knowledge and expertise and
propose new projects and futurecollaboration;
Provide platform for future networking and
collaboration among co-researchers and
between them and industry;
Facilitate the diffusion of research and
development output into the national
economy.

4.0 VENUE: University Gymnasium, Federal
University of Technology, Gidan Kwano campus,
Minna.
5.0 REGISTRATIONParticipation is open to all Nigerian Universities and
highly rated Universities from outside Nigeria.
Participants from the organized Private Sector,
Research Institutes and Industries are also invited.
Registration fee of N100,000.00 should be paid to
FUT, Minna ACCESS BANK Account Number:

branch by 30th
April 2012. Details of payment
should be forwarded electronically to our e-mail
address.
Abstract of not more than 500 words should be
forwarded electronically to our e-mail address by
20th

6.0 PRESENTATION FORMATPresentations at the Fair will include Lectures,
Discussions, Poster Displays and Exhibition ofPrototypes.
