Saturday brought some clouds in the sky and an occasional roar of some thunder, but we got the round in. We played a blind draw and 3 person teams were made up of one person from the 10 lowest handicaps, one from the middle ten and one from the high ten. Par was 216 and the winning team shot 232. They were Cal Rogers, Barbara Johnsen and Karen Kohler. Run-ner up was Fred Walker, Tab Bronson and Jo Briggs with 238. They were tied by the team of Ken Hicks, Chuck Curran and Kathy Davis. The Walker team won with a better back nine as per NCGA tour-nament policy. The closest to the pin on #13 was one by Lynn Johnson and Tab Bronson, both with great shots on this par 3 over a pond. The long drive on #18 went to Fred Walker and Ruth Vitale with a couple of dynamic tee shots.

Later that evening we gathered for din-ner in the Fireside Room at Greenhorn Creek and had a nice dinner and prize money was awarded. We then had danc-ing with our substitute DJ and his mighty music. I sincerely hope all had an enjoy-able time. Sunday the 7th took 13 of us on an op-tional round at La Contenta, another great foothill venue. With a small turnout we just played golf and had a closest to the pin on signature hole #13, a dynamic shot over a pond. The winners were Paul La Franchi and Jo Briggs who just edged Joyce Baral. Kathy Davis won the ladies long drive and we gave the men’s to Bill Neal who was runner up to Ken Hicks. This will be our only weekender this year as like last year we have decided to just have one of these events and hopefully our members will attend some of the other chapter’s multi-chapter events.

ITS BLUE ROCK SPRINGS THIS MONTH This month we will venture to Vallejo for one of our summer trips to the North Bay. Blue Rock Springs is a 36 hole complex easily reached from I-80 on the east side of Vallejo. We will play there on Saturday, July 18th. Green fees include cart and prize fund and are $60. Dead-line to sign up is Friday July 10th. Payment is to ASGA and you can pay the day of the event. We will write one check for the group to the course. Lets have a good turnout.

CALENDAR FOR THIS YEAR Saturday, July 18th - Blue Rock Springs Sunday, Aug 16th - Eagle Vines Saturday, Sept 12th - Morgan Creek Saturday, Oct 17th - Scotch Partners @

Bartley Cavanaugh

SCOTCH PARTNERS OCTOBER 17th Our annual Scotch Partners or “Club Champi-onship” is set for Saturday, October 17th at Bartley Cavanaugh. This is an alternate shot format where both players tee off and then alter-nate shots to the end of each hole. Last year Mike Newby and Shirlee Cisneros won the championship for the second time. Remember, this event you can pick your own partner and all teams must consist of one man and one woman. It’s a fun event.
