STAGE 4

Getting Your Software

Software and Course Materials

1 Refer to the checklist that you received with your Project LaunchBox™ Apple laptop.

2 Confirm that you’ve received all of the items on the checklist, and that they’re included with the packaging your laptop arrived in.

3 If you have not received any item, contact FSO Support as soon as possible. If you do not notify us of missing items within two weeks of receiving your laptop shipment, you will be responsible for obtaining the software in question.

NOTE: If the packing list that comes in your LaunchBox says that any item is on back order or will be shipped at a later date for any reason, then you do not need to report the item as missing.

4 Set aside time to install all of your software within the first week. You might not actually utilize some software until a bit later in your program, but we advise that you install all software as soon as possible during the first week.

5 Certain programs will receive additional software to download via email from a representative from your particular program.

6 Any software that you open, download, or is no longer in its original wrapped or sealed packaging cannot be returned for a refund.

7 Keep in mind that some of your books may be repeatedly used in other courses throughout your program. We strongly recommend that you keep all books where they can be easily accessed each month.

8 E-books will be used in most online courses throughout your degree program. This will require downloading the e-books and using specific e-readers to view them. The two most common e-readers are Adobe Digital Editions and VitalSource. Both of these e-readers require that you create a user account with them in order to successfully download your e-book.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When creating any e-book/e-reader accounts, you must use your FULL SAIL STUDENT EMAIL ADDRESS, and it is also strongly encouraged that you use the same consistent password as well.

STAGE 5

Where to Start

Setting Up Your Courses Profile

Your Courses profile is an area that allows you to give your classmates and instruc-tors insights into you, your background, your interests, and other aspects you’d like to share. You should complete your Courses profile prior to the start of class by going to profile.online.fullsail.edu.

Editing Your Profile

Within the Main Information tab, you can add a preferred name if it is different from your legal name. You can also add bio information as well as particular skills and interests.

Within the Contact portion of your profile, you have the opportunity to advise instructors of the best phone number and time to contact you. Select your time zone to eliminate any confusion. Your local time will then adjust and display correctly. Information entered into the yellow box will only be seen by your instructor; this part of your profile is not visible to other classmates. You also have space to add alternate email addresses and social-media information that can be seen by instruc-tors as well as classmates.

On the Photo tab, upload a photo of yourself that resembles how you would appear within a physical classroom. The photo must be a head shot of only yourself. Please do not wear bandannas or sunglasses. A professional demeanor is encouraged, and the photo that you upload must be approved by Full Sail Online Support before it will appear on FSO. Until your photo is approved, you won’t be able to make any other edits to your profile. This approval process can take up to 24 hours; contact us if you don’t see your picture after 24 hours. Please review the full Profile Photo Policy listed on the upload page before you submit your photo.

Keep this information up-to-date by accessing My Stuff from the Connect Commu-nity Home page. Then, click on Profile to update your Courses profile.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact FSO Support.

STAGE 6

Introduction to Mac

Mac 101

Now that you are ready to start your Online Education at Full Sail, you need to become familiarized with your Mac computer.

If you are new to the Mac, make sure to take the time to review the Mac 101 tutorial: http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/

Spending time completing this tutorial will save you time when you are going through the actual course work, especially if you are just now getting acquainted with the Mac Operating System.

Another important thing you should consider before it’s too late is to protect your investment by getting insurance for your computer. One of the options we suggest is Safeware.com, a company that offers $2,500 coverage for a relatively minimal fee. Check their site for details.

Customer Service Number

If you need help with your machine, the operating system, or the basic applications included with your system, call 1-800-823-APPL (2775). Please be sure to have your serial number handy before you call.

To find the serial number, go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1559.
