Fulfilling across the EU with Amazon

Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) helps you grow your online business by using Amazon’s world-class fulfilment resources and expertise, acclaimed customer service and trusted fast, free shipping options. FBA can help you reach new customers across the EU with two optional international fulfilment programmes:

• European Fulfilment Network (EFN)

• Multi-country Inventory (MCI)

EFN is the easy way to sell your items across Europe

With EFN you store inventory in your home country. When you list and sell items in any of Amazon’s EU marketplaces, Amazon ships and fulfils the international orders for you. In addition, Amazon provides local language customer support so you don’t have to worry about it. Fulfilling with EFN is slower than doing so locally but it’s easier as you only manage a single inventory pool in your home country.

MCI is the fast way to sell your items across Europe

With MCI you send your inventory directly to the countries corresponding to the marketplaces where you are listing your products and we store those products close to local customers. Your offers become more competitive: your products can ship faster to your customers, are eligible for Prime and in many cases free shipping. In addition, with MCI Amazon provides local language customer support so you don’t have to worry about it.

European Fulfilment Network (EFN) benefitsSimplicity – You can sell internationally fast with no additional start-up costs. Simply list your products in Amazon’s EU marketplaces and you can sell your items internationally. EFN eliminates the need to carry multiple pools of inventory to fulfil orders across the EU. This can save you time and money.

Grow fast internationally – EFN gives you the scale of Amazon’s world-class fulfilment network so you can manage deliveries across the EU at busy times of the year. Amazon takes care of the picking, packing and shipping for all of your EU orders so you can focus on growing your business.

Delight your customers – With EFN, Amazon takes care of customer service for delivery related issues in the local language of the Amazon EU marketplace where the order is purchased, as well as returns handling to a local address, keeping customer satisfaction high.

How does EFN work?

Join FBA. Upload product list. Send your full or partial inventory directly to Amazon. Amazon will store and manage your inventory in its fulfilment centres using a unique, optimised storage system. You own your inventory, and pay storage fees for items stored.

List your items in Amazon’s EU marketplaces either manually or using Amazon’s listing tools: Expand Offers Internationally and Build International Listings.

When an international order is placed, Amazon will fulfil that order from your local inventory pool. You will pay a fee for each order shipped outside of your home marketplace. Amazon will also handle returns and local language customer support on your behalf.

Multi-Country Inventory (MCI) benefitsMake money – MCI can help improve your sales conversion by getting your orders to customers faster, and by making your offers eligible for Prime and in many cases, free shipping which help increase the probability of winning the buy box.

Grow fast – MCI allows you to offer your products easily to potential new customers on Amazon’s other European marketplaces. With additional visibility of your products to local Prime customers, MCI helps you further drive up sales.

Enjoy high customer satisfaction – With MCI, Amazon takes care of customer service in the local language of the Amazon EU marketplace where the order is purchased as well as returns handling to a local address, keeping customer satisfaction high.

How does MCI work?

Join FBA and upload your product list. Please note that you will need to create the ASIN in your home marketplace. In order to inbound products using MCI, the product ASINs you intend to sell need to be listed in your home and destination marketplace.

The ASIN needs to exist in the target marketplace where you want to sell. If the ASIN currently does not exist, you will need to translate it into the language of the marketplace where you want to sell. If the ASIN already exists in the target marketplace, then you can use Amazon’s Build International Listings tool to create an offer in the target marketplace.

Go to the Manage My Inventory page in your Seller account and create an inbound shipment in the international marketplace you want to sell. You send your most popular inventory directly to the countries corresponding to the marketplace where you are listing your products, and we store those products close to local customers. When your products are ordered, they ship faster to your customers, are eligible for Prime and in many cases, free shipping.

When should I use EFN vs. MCI?If you are a seasoned international seller, you can use both EFN and MCI to manage your international fulfilment. For your fast-moving international orders, MCI can make your offers even more competitive by providing fast shipping. For items you are introducing to a new international marketplace, EFN can help you fulfil orders while you determine potential demand.

If you are new to international selling, the easiest way to start is to list your FBA products in another marketplace and your orders from that marketplace will automatically get fulfilled through EFN. Once you have a sense of what items sell better internationally, you can make your best-selling items even more competitive and thereby increase your sales by fulfilling them locally with MCI.

How EFN and MCI fees workWhen you fulfil with EFN, you will be charged FBA fees corresponding to the marketplace where the order is placed, plus EFN fees corresponding to the fulfilment centre from where the product is shipped. The local Selling on Amazon fees will apply from the marketplace where the order originated and are in addition to FBA and EFN fees.

For example, if you are a UK seller with inventory in the UK and sell in Amazon.de using EFN, when an order is placed on Amazon.de, you will be charged Amazon.de FBA fees and Amazon.co.uk EFN fees, plus the Amazon.de selling on Amazon fees.

When you use MCI, you will be charged FBA fees corresponding to the marketplace where the order is placed, plus the local selling on Amazon fees. You will not be charged any EFN fees; however, you will incur international shipment fees with your carrier to ship our inventory across borders to the Amazon fulfilment centre where you want to store your inventory.

For example, if you are a UK seller, sell in Amazon.de and want to use MCI to fulfil locally for Amazon.de customers, you will pay carrier shipment fees to send your items to a fulfilment centre in Germany. You’ll pay Amazon.de selling on Amazon and FBA fees when an order is placed, and Amazon fulfils your orders using your local inventory in German fulfilment centres
