FS &Key Stage 1
Important information
‘Every absence, excused or unexcused, is a learning opportunity lost and can impact a student’s success in school and life’
EYFS Curriculum
Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is divided into seven areas of learning; Personal Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. These seven areas of learning are delivered through a thematic and engaging cross-curricular approach, which enables children to acquire knowledge, skills, concepts and attitudes in a meaningful way.
EYFS Curriculum
As all our topics are enquiry led, they will start with a ‘Hook’ which is
an initial stimulus or experience designed to help the children connect
with the content and skills that will be taught. At the end of the
theme’s learning journey, the children will celebrate their
achievements with a final ‘Outcome’ that can be shared with each
other, parents or the school community. The themed approach ensures
the children have opportunities to be supported or independent with
their playing, exploring, active learning, creating and thinking critically.
Specific skills involving reading, writing and maths are also taught
through daily, whole class, as well as small group, activities.
KS1 CurriculumThe majority of our National Curriculum subjects are taught through a thematic and engaging cross-curricular approach. Each theme takes a main subject to drive the learning forward and our enquiry–based approach provides our pupils with the opportunity to learn collaboratively, independently, innovatively and develop higher order thinking skills.

Curriculum: We follow the ministry curriculum for the three articles.
We provide numerous resources and supportive plans to improve the
students’ level where necessary.
• Arabic language: We divide the students into two parts: according to
the nationality (Arab students and Non-Arab students)
• We also divide the Non-Arabs into two classes according to their level
of ability in Arabic.
• We note that all students (Arabs and Non-Arabs) should study the
Arabic language according to the Abu Dhabi Education Council
curriculum.
• Teaching Arabic students to excel when using their native language.
• Introducing Non-Arabic students to the Arabic language as a means of
communication and to familiarize with the Arabic culture.

which means one short assessment will be conducted every week as well
as one final assessment at the end of the term.
In addition, the Spelling will continue to be take place every Thursday for
years 2. Parents will receive the results of the Spelling test on Sunday with
new spelling for the coming week.

General tips
Reading, reading, reading… Contribute by promoting this skill to your children, by encouraging them to read, and purchasing stories aimed at simplified Arabic, Comics with exact words, and clear lines.
We also recommend to encourage them to participate in the “The Arab Reading Challenge" launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, may God protect him. This is an initiative established in order to encourage a generation of readers.
