TRANSCRIPT
From the Pastors Desk
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
And suddenly from heaven there came the sound like the rush of a violent
wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. All were amazed
and perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean?” (Acts 2:1-2,12)
For a number of years, I participated with clergy colleagues in a spiritual direction group. It was
a group of pastors that agreed to be prayer partners with each taking time to notice how God is
acting in each of our lives. We set time apart to intentionally look within and consider our own
journey with God. The time began in silence and words came later. It is always a joy to see the
surprising ways one person can help another discern meaning as the Spirit acts. There is so
much to be gained when we faithfully listen for God’s activity and take the initiative to ask “what
does this mean” for our lives.
Pentecost is an especially good time to consider new ways of speaking out loud how God is part
of our lives. We will celebrate the Day of Pentecost on May 20th. I love the promise in the Pen-
tecost story that the Good News is spoken in a language we can each understand. God will con-
nect with us in a way that speaks to each of us.
We return to our Rose summer worship schedule from May 27-Sept 2 with worship service at
9:00 A.M. Even though it feels like spring has yet to arrive, summer is scheduled to arrive
soon, it is time to thank the choir for another season of beautiful music. Thanks go to the Sun-
day School teachers and students as well.
Grace and Peace,
Dan

Thank you so very much for
your generous donation to Faith

very much appreciated.

Spring is here! We are hopeful that nice weather is in the near future. Now is a great time to think about exercise and what we can do to improve our health. There are many benefits to ex-ercise, such as helping to control one's weight and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. It can help reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and help manage blood sugar lev-els. Exercise can help improve one's mood, reduce your risk of depression, help you sleep bet-ter, and help you stay mentally sharp as you age. It can help strengthen bones and muscles, reduce your risk of some cancers, and may increase your chances of living longer. For older adults, certain types of exercise can help improve balance and reduce the risk of fall-ing. "Stepping On" is one program that is offered regularly in our community that focuses on fall prevention. Information regarding this program has been posted on the Faith Community Nurse's bulletin board for the past month. There is also information in the nearby pamphlet dis-play in the Fellowship Hall. Families may also want to think of fun activities to do together to help increase their physical activity. Some examples to consider are walking, swimming, yoga, Tai Chi, biking, dancing, yard work, or playing sports. It's also important to know your limitations and talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have a chronic health condition. More information regarding the benefits of exercise can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/basics/pa-health/index.htm.
Stay Healthy and Safe!
