“We have chosen the way of truth.” Psalm 119:30
VOLUME 2 December 20, 2015 Number 51
From the Pastor’s Heart Greetings Southside Family,
Our church family has been in a sermon series entitled, “THE LIGHT
OF THE WORLD”. “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light
of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will
have the light of life.” ( John 8:12). We will continue that theme this
morning from the book of Isaiah. Jesus is a light for the nations!
We will celebrate Christmas in 5 days. One of the joys of Christmas is
to watch children frantically tearing wrapping paper off the packages to
find they got exactly what they wanted. A child would never keep a pre-
sent without unwrapping it . God has provided the greatest gift that man-
kind could receive, and that is the gift of salvation through the Lord Je-
sus Christ. Have you unwrapped this great gift? Eternal life is the most
precious possession anyone can receive. We sometimes discard our
earthly presents, but the gift of salvation is one that will last forever!
Please make plans to be back tonight at 5pm for our church wide Christ-
mas Dinner. This will be a wonderful time of fellowship for the
Southside family.
On behalf of the Stafford family, we would like to wish each and every
one a very Merry Christmas!
For His Glory,
Bro Stacy

Merry Christmas!
Each Sunday during this Advent period, one more of the four candles has been lit. There
have been devotional readings or dialogue to celebrate the hope, peace, joy, and love repre-
sented by each candle. Now, it is time to light the white candle in the center of the Advent
wreath, the one called the Christ Candle. Today we welcome the Ellis family to light the
final Advent candle.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The ever-
lasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall
be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it
with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts
will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7 KJV
Christmas is my most favorite season of the year, let's focus on the real meaning of Christ-
mas! I pray you all have a wonderful
and Merry Christmas!
Thank you for a good 1st year at Southside!
Merry Christmas,
Gary Medlock

Greetings to everyone this beautiful Sunday morning,
I would like to personally wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful
and blessed New Year. I am painfully aware of many of you who have lost loved
ones this past year and know how hard the holidays could be. Please find strength in
knowing and remembering that God loves you (John 3:16), cares for you (1 Peter
5:7), and knows your hurts and is interceding for you (Romans 8:34). Please also
know you have a church family who loves you and is here for you.
Our next Sr. Adult luncheon will be on Tuesday, Jan. 19th. We will have vegetable/
beef soup, cheese toast and coconut cake. Please make plans to attend. We always
have an enjoyable time of fellowship and great food!
Love you all,
Mrs. Rhonda

Good morning,
Christmas is almost upon us!! People are busy preparing for their get-togethers with family
and friends. Children are filled with excitement, hoping to receive that long anticipated gift
that will make for the perfect Christmas. Most parents are excited to see the barrage of re-
quests end for a few days. While in the midst of your Christmas gatherings, watching the
kids play, and indulging in gluttonous eating (or in my case overeating), set apart some
time to pray for the missionaries that are spread out all around the globe. Many will not be
able to spend time with their families here in the U.S., and some are in places where they
must keep their celebration to the confines of their private homes, so as not to draw un-
wanted attention or danger upon themselves.
The student ministry is preparing to head out to our winter conference on December 28th, to
Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters (SWO) in Andrews, North Carolina. While there we will
be diving in to God’s Word, attending powerful worship services, and spending one even-
ing on a mountain top snow skiing. One thing I love about the SWO facilities is a secluded
place atop the mountain on which their campus is located. This place is a small cabin dedi-
cated to prayer for the “Underground Church,” which is missionaries that are located in
places so dangerous that their identities must be kept secret. These missionaries, before
leaving home, must say goodbye to their families, complete a last will and testament, and
pen a letter saying goodbye explaining to their family the dedication they have to spreading
the Gospel of Christ to those who would otherwise never hear.
This is an extremely solemn experience, while at this cabin there is no talking. As you read
the letters that some penned knowing they would never see their families again, you begin
to understand the burning desire to see all come to a relationship with Christ. Remember
these nameless and faceless individuals on the mission field in prayer. Block out some time
this Christmas and pray for those on the mission field all around the world, sharing God’s
love with a lost and dying world. You can join the missionaries by giving to the Lottie
Moon Christmas Offering.
