VOL : 6 ISSUE I APRIL, 20I4 – NOVEMBER, 20I4
Safety of the children in school has suddenly caught the attention of every body. It is indeed ironic that schools
which are the places of joy and pleasure for learning and playing become vulnerable for the safety of children.
Normally, in all schools there are incidents of children getting hurt while playing or running around or working in
the Laboratory someone may get bruised. All such incidents come under the category of minor accidents and the
schools are competent enough to prevent these un-foreseen incidents. Physical Safety of the children in schools
can be ensured by following certain Standard Operating Procedures and improving upon the Infra-structure in
the school. It is the utmost duty and commitment of the school to provide a safe and secure atmosphere which
is conducive to learning and playing.
Government and Local Administration have issued Advisory Memorandums regarding “Safety and Secu rity” to
the schools. Deployment of trained Security Guards at the Entry/Exit points and installation of closed circuit
television (CCTV) surveillance has become almost mandatory in all schools. No doubt these measures can help
the school administration to keep a close vigilance and check the untoward incidents. Disaster Management is
even included in the syllabus of Social Science and the students and teachers are well aware of the simple
measures to be taken in a situation.
The Social and Emotional Safety of the children is more important than the Physical Safety. In order to achieve
this we need to have an atmosphere of trust, respect and love. As a matter of fact the culture of a school is
based on these important parameters. Mutual trust is the corner stone for the healthy relationship between
Parents and Teachers. Teachers shoulder a great responsibility in schools to take full care of their students. This
generates true love and respect of the students towards their teachers. If the student’s individu ality is respected
and if he is heard when he has to say something, I am very sure that it will give him social and emotional safety.
Perverted social behavior of a few children can easily be channelized into a socially useful and productive
attitude by showing empathy and guiding them at regular intervals.

CAREER COUNSELING With the competition increasing tremendously in
today’s world, the need for knowledge has become
an important element for an individual. In this
regard, our Principal is making all efforts to enrich
the students with various career options and how
one can pursue them. On 27th May 2014, Mr.
Murali Rangnathan a professional Chartered
Accountant was called upon to give the children a
basic ideology regarding what CA is about. He
himself was a science graduate but somehow
things didn’t work out for him and so, he chose to
become CA. He mentioned that CA course is
difficult but not impossible for those who are
determined, courageous, passionate, and
dedicated to it. He also said that commerce was
logical by approach. Further on, with the help of
power point presentation, he explained the whole
procedure precisely. There are two methods, one
through CPT route and second direct entry.
Students with good grasping power and talent may
choose the first method. The first step is to enroll
after class 10th and after a period of two years
appear for CPT in class 12th. ICAI provides study
material to these students. Having passed both the
boards and test, students apply for IPCC followed
by articleship and final. Through direct entry
method the post graduate may directly apply for
IPCC without attempting for CPT. The same
procedure as above is followed for the next. The
duration of course is for 3 years. He also gave a
general idea about the subjects taught to the
students. According to him, patience and
perseverance are the important skills required to
become CA. Analytical skill and basic computer
knowledge are necessary. The session came to an
end with queries and doubts with respect to the
subject matter as narrated above.

CHILDREN ARE THE FUTURE OF TOMORROW Children are the future of tomorrow. On this
children's day we pledged to keep our
surroundings neat and clean. Our Prime
Minister has shown us the way and we need to
take it further by taking initiatives to make our
country clean and green free from any disease.
We can start by keeping our surroundings
clean by stopping others from throwing pieces
of paper, wrappers and food items. We are the
ones who can make our surroundings clean
and beautiful. Let's not wait for any change but
be the change. If we take care of small things,
the rest automatically fall in place. The small
effort on our part will bring a huge
transformation. So friends next time you see
bits of paper, wrappers or any waste lying
around in the corridors, fields and classrooms,
don't wait for any one just pick it up and
throw it in the dustbin.
