India got its freedom from British Rule on 15 August 1947. Hence

we celebrate our Independence Day on 15th of August every year.

This day inspires us to follow the teachings of peace and non-

violence that was preached by Mahatma Gandhi.

72nd Independence Day was celebrated on the campus with patriotic

fervour. The Principal of the school unfurled the flag. There after

there was the cultural program began which included march past,

dance, speech, quiz, martial arts and much more. It was enjoyed by

one and all present there. The program was followed by the speech of

the school Principal Ms Ruchi Sharma. In the end sweets were

distributed to all.

In our school the students made lovely Rakhis in the competition

held on August 23, 2018. All of them participated and enjoyed.

Children showed their creativity & talent in designing rakhis. Raksha

Bandhan reinforces the love between brother & sister and helps to

build healthy family relationships.

Janamashtmi is one of the favourite festival of kids as the birth of

Lord Krishna is celebrated on this day. Special assembly was

conducted on September 01, 2018 on the campus. A bhajan was

sung & some shlokas from our Holy book „Gita‟ were recited in the

assembly. The teacher had a talk on the life of Lord Krishna. A

jhanki displayed depicted the birth of Lord Krishna. Teachers

narrated the story of the birth of Lord Krishna through Jhanki.

Children enjoyed in breaking the matki –the most favourite act of

Lord Krishna.

DPSI organised an Educational Exhibition entitled „Edu-Vision‟ on

August 30, 2018. The exhibits from all subject departments were

displayed at the respective venues. The exhibition aimed at

providing a common platform to various students to exhibit their

innovative ideas. Even the children of Elementary section and

primary section participated enthusiasticlly in the exhibition.

Students of class Pre-Nursey to Class five participated in „Jodo

Gyan‟ activities. Jodo Gyan is a ‘Skill and Concept Development‟ Program based on NCERT guidelines which helps the students to

practice and clear their concepts in Mathematics. It helps in all

basic concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division,

fractions, skip counting etc.

Children enjoyed a lot in doing and explaining these activities in the

exhibition.

Grand parents are the oldest members of a family. They are among

the most influential & important persons in everyone‟s life. They are

those people who care for us selflessly and love unconditionally.

A small activity was conducted for students to draw out their

feelings for their grand parents. They made colourful cards and

wrote their feelings for their grandparents in the cards.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Class I Students learnt and understood the topic blends ( st , sm , sl ),

diagraphs ( sh , ch , th ) and paragraph writing on “ MY FAMILY” &

“ MY BIRTHDAY” . They did activity on My Family on August 2o,

2018. In this activity the students made family album. They showed

their creative skills. This activity helped children to remember the

good times and will cherish the memories in their hearts. All the

students participated in this activity very enthusiastically.

Class II Students comprehended the Chapter “Helping and Sharing” the

teacher made them familiar with the importance of friends in the

life and also to develop the feeling of brotherhood and cooperation

among the peer group.

The students also learnt and understood the topics “Punctuation,

Pronoun, Gender, Picture Composition and Paragraph Writing” to

improve their language and writing skills.

An Activity was conducted on punctuation on August 13, 2018.

Students learnt about the correct use of punctuation marks .

Class III

The students comprehended the chapter “How the Demon was

Defeated.” by discussion, reading, explanation and enactment. This

chapter inculcated the feeling of courage in them. In grammar the

children learnt about „The Use of Pronoun , writing Informal Letter

& Comprehension‟. These concepts helped the students to write in

the correct format.

An activity on comprehension was conducted on August 23, 2018.

This activity improved their vocabulary writing skills.

Class I In the month of August students learnt about the They

learnt to read and write words, colours name, fruits name & rhymes

with these matras.

An activity was conducted on fruits name on August 13, 2018.

Students were asked to write the name of the fruits & to colour

them. They were asked to read the words aloud that they had

written for emphasizing on pronunciation. This activity boosted up

their confidence in reading, colour concept and writing.

Class II In the month of August students comprehended a chapter and a

poem of their reader-“Rangoli”. They understood the chapters

through discussions, reading, explanation and written work. The

teacher emphasized on their reading skills. They did difficult words,

question answers and other exercises of the book. In Hindi grammar

they did singular/plural and how to use them correctly. They did the

activity on the same topic. The students were asked to write the

name of the pictures according to the number. This activity

enhanced their thinking skill, writing skill and their confidence.

Class III In the month of August the students comprehended one chapter

and a rhyme of their reader-“Rangoli”. They understood the

chapters through discussions, reading, explanation and written work.

In grammar they learnt about Gender, picture composition and

comprehension.

On August 18 an activity was conducted on Gender. A worksheet

was provided to them and the children were asked to write the

correct word. This improved their thinking & writing skills.

Class I Students learnt and understood the topics -Concept of „Ones and

Tens‟, „Smallest and Biggest numbers‟ and „Dodging Tables‟ ( 2-8 ).

They did activity on „Ones and Tens‟ which was conducted on August

31, 2018. In this activity students placed the numbers under „Ones‟

and „Tens‟ with the help of flash cards. All the students took part in

this activity enthusiastically and with great interest.

Class II Students understood the topics- Roman Numbers, Subtraction,

Multiplication Tables, Solid Shapes, Expanded Form and Short Form

in this month. They did an activity on „Roman Numbers’ on August

20, 2018. In this activity students used toothpicks/matchsticks to

make different Roman Numbers on the pastel sheets.

This activity made them aware about how to write the different

numbers in roman language.

Class III Students learnt and understood the concept of money.

Students were able to understand about the use of Indian currency.

They also learnt to convert rupees into paise & vice versa.

Activity on „Pasting of Currency‟ was held on August 4, 2018.

Through this activity students were able to learn about the

different type of notes and coins used in our country.

Class I Students learnt and understood the lesson- „My School‟,

„Neighbourhood‟ in the month of August and September. They did an

activity of drawing the things that they see on the school campus.

The students coloured the pictures they had drawn. This activity

was conducted on August 13, 2018. This activity enhanced their

vision and creative skill.

Class II In the month of August the students understood the chapters “My

School”, “People who help us” & “Time talk”. In these topics students

learnt about their school and the helpers who help us in different

ways. They were made aware about the concept of time and

calendar.

Activity on time was conducted on August 24, 2018. In this activity

students solved the given worksheet on “Time” with the help of

teacher. By this activity teacher made them aware about months of

the year, days of the week and how to look and tell the time from

the clock.

Class III

Class III students learn about the different types of beaks and

claws of some birds.

A clue box activity was conducted on August 20, 2018 in class 3 on

the topic Beaks & claws of the birds. A worksheet was given to

students and they were asked to identify the beaks and claws of

different birds with the help of clue box.

The students enjoyed a lot and got familiar with the different types

of beaks and claws of birds. This activity helped them in recognition

and identifying the beaks and claws of birds.

Class I Objective– To make students aware about the mouse pointers.

Activity–A computer based activity was conducted on August 27,

2018 with the title „Different Mouse Pointers". In this activity

students learnt about the shape of various pointers and working of

pointers of mouse such as click, double click, scrolling scroll wheel.

Class II Objective –To make students aware about the functions of mouse..

Activity- An activity on ‘Functions of mouse” conducted on August

24, 2018.In this activity students learnt about the functions of a

mouse like clicking, double click, drag and drop and scrolling.

Class III Objective –To make the students aware about components and

working of MS Word.

Activity - An activity on "Type a letter to your mother "was

conducted on August 11, 2018. In this activity students learnt

about creating a document, typing text, saving and closing a

document.

Creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas to create

something new. Creativity is characterized by the ability to perceive

the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections

between seemingly unrelated phenomena and to generate solutions.

Creativity involves processing, innovating and thinking. Students of

all classes enjoy their Art & Craft period

Sports are very important in every walk of life. They help to build a

good physique. They also make children mentally alert and physically

strong. Games and sports are good diversions and give energy to

learn their lessons well. Students of Dewan Public School

International are involved in sports & games activities on regular

basis.
