From the Acting Principal

CONGRATULATIONS MR MASSEY

Mr Massey has been successful in applying for the actingdeputy principal position at Grand Avenue State School. MrMassey has been at Redbank Plains since July 2015throughout that time he started as a classroom teacher beforeundertaking a number of roles prior to becoming deputyprincipal. Mr Massey has achieved a lot in his time as a leaderat this school to improve the educational outcomes of ourstudents. We thank Mr Massey for all his hard work and wishhim the best of luck in his new opportunity.

We have begun the process to advertise a permanent deputyprincipal position at Redbank Plains State School and willadvise the community when this is completed.

SCHOOL OPINION SURVEY

The annual suite of School Opinion Surveys will be conductedfrom 29 July to 23 August 2019. All families, school staff anda random sample of students will be invited to participate. Weencourage you to take this opportunity to have your say aboutwhat our school does well, and how we can improve.

Access details for the Parent/Caregiver Survey will be senthome with students this week. The survey can be completedvia computers, tablets or smart phones with internetconnection.

Parents/caregivers who do not have access to the internetat home are welcome to complete their survey online at theschool. School computers/tablets will be available Monday 19August from 8:30-9:30 am and Wednesday 21 August from2:30-3:30 pm. If you come along to the laptop sessions atschool please bring your parent logon information (some spareswill be available).

INTERSCHOOL SPORT

I remind all parents that they are expected to behaveappropriately at all times when at school activities and thisincludes attending sporting events. Parents are asked to ensurethey:

Whilst it is a competition it is also a wonderful opportunity forstudents to engage in a supported opportunity to trial newsports. If you can not ensure your behaviour is supportive andappropriate you may be required to leave. Students who wishto compete more competitively are encouraged to attend cluband representative opportunities. All students are encouragedto participate and enjoy Friday sport.

COLES AND WOOLWORTHS COLLECTABLES

We know these are fun and exciting for the children howeverplease ensure they stay at home. Unfortunately trading cancause conflict between students and younger students often

do not have the necessary skills to ensure they receive a fairtrade. If they are brought to school they will be removed fromthe students during the day and given back at the end of theday. If students continue to bring them to school after beingreminded to leave them at home they may be held in the officefor parental collection.

Did you know? Research shows that in Queensland, higherstudent attendance at school is associated, on average, withhigher student achievement.

Why is regular attendance at school important?

Regular school attendance will mean that your child gets abetter chance at life. Your child will achieve better when they goto school all day, every school day:

RegardsPam Coyle
