We pray for a harvest of fruit in strengthening the bond between our two great nations, our two peoples, a subject of such great importance to the Lord. In addition to the victories we experienced this month, we also faced heart break including the loss of one of our dearest friends, Ann Sims, someone who has been a part of our team for more than 20 years. Ann is a person with such a rare giving, loving heart, one feels privileged just to be her friend. We will miss her dearly. We know she lives on with the Lord Jesus and look forward to meeting her there some day.A few days later, we also lost our Captain, Eric Cutler. Captain Cutler came to serve with Friend Ships in 1993. Over the course of the next 22 years, he would sail as Captain or First Mate on each of our five ships. His missions took him from West Africa to the West Indies, to Haiti, Honduras, Mexico and to the Middle East in wars, civil wars, hurricanes, earthquakes and even a rescue of one of our vessels from a sandbar. Captain Eric servedHis God and served Him well. He was like the centurion who had soldiers under him who he would tell go and they would go and come and they would come, and like the centurion he also knew how to serve under His authority, Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of all. Eric's skill, his humility, his kindness and his love will forever be a part of the Friend Ships legacy. During his time on the earth, he was our friend, he was our Captain, he was our armor bearer. He was the Lord's willing and capable servant. He was awesome and although we know he goes on living forever in a far better place and we will all sail together again, for now, he will be sorely missed. For now, our next focus is on the upcoming three nation medical mission we plan to carry out in a few months. Please pray that all our needs are met for this mission that will touch so many with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All our thanks and warmest regards,Don and Sondra Tipton and the Friend Ships Teams
