“Bridges 101” Information Session

June 13th 11:45 a.m.—1 p.m. Where can a 66 yr. old child at heart share books, talk, have fun, learn about other cultures, converse with young adults/teachers and learn new arts and crafts? Bridges Together that’s where.

Come mingle with Bridges Together Volunteers at the Program at the West Springfield Senior Center on Wed., June 13th (11:45 a.m.—1 p.m.) Have a cup of coffee, view class photos and talk with our volunteers who have participated in the program.

The Bridges Intergenerational Curriculum was designed to unite youth and older adults within an e d u c a t i o n a l se t t i n g . W e s t Springfield’s program is the result of a successful partnership be-tween Coburn and Memorial Schools and our Council on Aging.

WATERCOLOR RAFFLE

Tickets are available for a raffle for the Geranium in the Windowbox, a beautiful painting by artists Barbara Eddy & Lillian Romaniak. Lillian donated this painting to our Center. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Proceeds will benefit the Center. FMI 263-3264.

that it is. Even Caller ID can be faked.

Don’t be pressured to act immediately. Scammers try to push you into action before you have time to think. High

Your new Medicare card will be sent to you between April 2018 and April 2019. Make sure your address is up to date because Medicare will be sending it to the location associated with your Social Security account. To update

your address information please contact Social Security directly at 1-800-772-1213 or go to https://www.ssa.gov/.

1. Your new card will no longer include your Social Security number. It will include your name, new Medicare

number, and the dates your Medicare Part A and Part B coverage started.

2. Start using your new Medicare card once you receive it.

3. Destroy your old Medicare Card immediately because it contains your Social Security number. If you happen to lose or misplace your card you can get a replacement, but you can also can access your new Medicare

number on a Medicare Summary Notice or through Medicare.

4. Keep your Medicare Advantage, Part D prescription, and/or Medigap. Continue using your health or drug plan’s card when you get health care or fill a prescription, but know you will also get the new Original

Medicare card.

5. The Railroad Retirement Board will issue new cards to Railroad Retirement beneficiaries.

FARMERS MARKET LOTTERY Farmers Market Coupons will be distributed this summer to low income adults 60 years or older, living in West Springfield and who are eligible for or receiving food stamps, SSI, Medicaid, subsidized housing or fuel assistance. What is Options Counseling?

It’s a Free Service assisting people with making informed decisions about nursing home placement and living at home or other community settings with services. It focuses on consumer’s personal goals and preferences. The services can be provided at

home, at an agency, in a hospital, rehabilitation or nursing facility.

Who can receive it?

People of any age who have any type of disability, people age 60 and older and caregivers.

How can it help you?

An Elder Care Advisor will work with you to:

* Help develop a personal long term care plan;

* Explore financial resources for your care plan;

* Give you information about community services; and

* Make recommendations as needed.
