The CR series monitors were designed to be placed in a vertical position. If placing them horizontally, place them so that the woofers are toward the inside and the tweeters outside for the best stereo image. The monitors should be placed at ear level.

No, the CR series monitors are designed to accept a line level input and a higher level signal may either cause distortion or damage of the powered speaker.
