Freshwater River Biome

Geography & ClimateLocation: Freshwater biomes are located all throughout the Earth, except in the ocean.

Description: The water is more clear when there is more oxygen, and less clear when there is less oxygen. There are many fish species in freshwater biomes, many of these fish can only live in freshwater biomes.

Soil type: The main soil types in freshwater biomes are clay, and sand.

Precipitation: It usually rains a lot in freshwater biomes.

Temperature range: 39 to 79 degrees Fahrenheit

Biodiversity

• Plant Species: Green plants, algae

• Animal Species: Salmon, frogs, otters, turtle, and multiple freshwater fish species.

Adaptations• Plant: They have to

adapt to all the water. The plants don’t take in more water than they should.

• Animal: They drink the water in the river. Some animals make their home in the water.

Interactions• Biotic: The animals

drink the water in the biome. There are animals in the biome that eat plants, and there are some that eat other animals.

• Abiotic: The freshwater river biomes supply water to cities. 70% of irrigation comes from freshwater river biomes.
