How to troubleshoot and fix the issues faced during E1 CAS (DTMF) installations?
ISDN Service Provider
E1 CAS
ETERNITY GE
Configuration Steps: Step 1: T1E1 configuration. Login as SE and go to T1E1 configuration.
Step 2: Configure T1E1 Port Parameters for E1 CAS.
Note: If Line Coding Mechanism & Framing Mode are not configured as provided by the service provider then there may be signalling issue between PBX and ISDN Switch. Step 3: Configure E1 CAS Signaling.
Select Line Coding Mechanism &
Framing Mode as provided by
Service Provider
Troubleshooting Steps: Issue 1: Noise is observed during speech.
Clear Alarm/Counter available under the Status T1E1 Configuration and observe the Status page again (Once cleared it should not generate more alarms).
Note: Alarm generation in status page is available from version V12R1 onwards.
If still the Alarm counter is varying then set the Clock Synchronization parameter.
Set Clock Source
Priority 1
Set Clock Source
Priority 2,3,4 as None
Set the Clock Synchronization Frequency
as 2.048 MHz in E1-CAS
Issue 2: E1 CAS line is not working.
Check the T1E1 port by Loop back.
Connect (Pin 1 --- Pin 4) & (Pin 2 --- Pin 5) of RJ45 cable as shown below
Connect patch code with T1E1 card.
If both the LEDs are green in colour in loop back test, then check the connectivity from service provider side. For other then the green LED indication, check the T1E1 card hardware.
Both LEDs L1 & L2 are
continuous Green on
connecting RJ45 cable.
Issue 3: Delayed incoming call.
Change the Overlap Receiving Timer under advance option in T1E1 Port Parameters (Default: 15 sec).
Check the master debug for the incoming call request .

Here called number (3001) is found in the InfoIn request coming from line
which indicates that call is getting received by the system.
Ext No. 2001
If no DTMF digits are present in InfoIn request then change the DTMF Detection settings (Minimum up to 10 msec) under advance option in T1E1 Port Parameters .

If still incoming call is not working then we can check slave layer debug
(ARM Debug) for exact call flow analysis.
Matrix technical support team will analyze ARM debug for further
diagnosis. Please arrange COM port cable for debugging if ETERNITY ME/
ETERNITY LE is used.
Issue 5: No dial tone while grabing the E1 CAS line.
Check dial tone by Selective Port Access of the E1- Port. (Command: 69-05-01)
Increase the Line Seizure, Acknowledge Wait Timer in E1 CAS Signaling and check .

If SetupAckin is not received against the SetupRQ then check the settings from the Service Provider end.
Note: In case if Matrix ETERNITY is connected with BPL Exchange at the other end and if you are not getting a dial tone, check by disabling the Line Signaling flag (Default: Enabled).
