Humility, the rejection of all pomp and pride of position, was central to the spirituality of the people of Israel during the centuries after the Babylonian exile and leading up to the coming of Christ. Israel was forced to rely on the Lord. The poor and humble were the chosen ones of the Lord. Jesus says `I am gentle and humble in heart’. Humility often gets a bad press in our society. What does it mean to be humble as Christ was humble? Given there is no Sunday obligation, can we consider attending Mass on a weekday. This will ease the pressure of numbers for Sunday celebrations and allow a gradual return to the Eucharist for more people. It is important to reaffirm that, at present,the obligation to attend Sunday Massremains suspended. Given there is noSunday obligation, we ask that youconsider the possibility of attendingMass on a weekday when possible. Thiswill ease the pressure of numbers forSunday celebrations and allow a gradualreturn to the Eucharist for more people.Masses will continue to be live-streamedfor those who are self-isolating to protectthe vulnerable.We ask everyone to respect and followthe guidance that is given:to maintain a safe environment Stewardswill guide you to planned route aroundbuilding, point out sanitizing stations,need for social distancing and manageaccess.Capacity: approx 100 (Every other pew,2 in short pews, 3 in long pews, except iffrom same household or social bubble.Duration of Service: brief to minimisetime people congregate together; no sing-ing; Offertory or Sign of Peace.Communion: Communion is given silent-ly in the hand only. People should wait intheir pews until instructed to move for-ward. They should approach priest witharms at ‘full stretch’ and hands extendedas flatly as possible, then return to pewsin an orderly manner.Sanitise: hands on entering & leavingchurch.Thank you for your cooperation in what isa difficult and lengthy process as webegin to emerge from this lock-down.Church Offertory: The income of theparish has plummeted these last weeks.Please support your parish, donationscan be placed in box in church porch orthrough the presbytery letterbox.
