Sunday Jesus is the same yesterday
Our Faith has not popped out of
nowhere but rather is deeply
grounded in history. Salvation
History shows us how from the
first moments of human existence
God has sought a relationship
with us. This started with the
covenants Abraham, Moses, and
David. It continued with
the prophets and culminate in the
coming of Christ. Christ is the
fulfillment of Old Testament law,
sacrifice and prophets. Christ en-
tered at a moment in history and
is an historical reality.
Monday Jesus is the same today
Although Christ is an historical
person, he is very much alive and
with us today. Christ is with us
most especially in the Eucharist.
At every Mass we too get to be
present on Calvary. Though
Christ is also present to us in His
Word (Sacred Scripture) and in
the love that we share with one
another. We need to invite God
into our lives, knowing that the
way we are able to carry our daily
crosses and trials is through God's
grace.
Tuesday Jesus is the same forever
God is constant, he is immutable,
which means God does not change,
he is the same yesterday, today, and
forever. This means we don't have to
worry about God changing, becom-
ing different or abandoning us. God
love us no matter what, it is we who
remove ourselves from God's love by
our sin. We must grow in our trust of
God and His providence. This can be
stuff but when we place God in the
center of our lives, we soon learn
that he takes care of the rest. Not be-
cause we get everything we want but
everything enters the right perspec-
tive.

On this World Mission Sunday, October 20, 2019, which is the culmination of the Archdi-
ocesan EXTRAORDINARY YEAR OF MISSION and ALSO the International Month of
Mission, declared by Pope Francis, we are reminded that we too are “baptized and sent” to
continue the Mission of our Lord. Our prayers and sacrifices on this Sunday join with those
offered in churches around the globe, supporting those who “proclaim the word” and serve
among some of the poorest areas, often in difficult circumstances.
