The October Attendance Count The Archdiocese of Philadelphia annually takes a

count of mass attendance for every parish. This coming count will be recorded.

Our numbers are down significantly and they are critical to the future of Sacred Heart Parish. YOUR attendance at Mass is

very important.

Dear Partnering Parishioners, October is a month filled with many graces and blessings for all of us!

We begin this month with our Night In Venice Social for our Partnering Parishes, Saturday evening, immediately following the 5:30P.M. Vigil Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Tickets are still available at the door so come and join in a night of delicious food and fun!.

Sunday, October 5th is Hospitality Sunday – sponsored by the Legion of Mary-is a time to enjoy fellowship after the morning Masses in St. Charles Parish Hall.

In October, we celebrate Respect Life Month! We celebrate the Holy Rosary Month! And we celebrate this Extraordinary Missionary Month called by Pope Francis to emphasize everyone’s participation in the Missionary Call to proclaim the Gospel to all the nations. This weekend, please welcome Father Anthony Korir to our parishes. He is here to preach at all the Masses in anticipation of World Mission Sunday which is Sunday, October 20, 2019 and to remind us of our calling as missionary disciples of Our Lord. Father Anthony Kiprono Korir is a member of the Society of African Missions (SMA Fathers). He is a Kenyan citizen and living and working in the development office of the provincial headquarters of the Society of African Missions, Tenafly New Jersey during his preaching throughout the country. He worked in a parish in Togo West Africa also, and as a vocation director of the congregation. Please give Father Anthony a hearty welcome!

Holy Rosary During the month of October, I encourage all parishioners to pray the Holy Rosary, especially as a family. The late Father Peyton, whose cause has been started for canonization, would always say, “The family that prays together, stays together.” The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is Monday, October 7th. Consider joining with other parishioners and friends to pray the Holy Rosary Monday evening at 7:00P.M. in St. Charles Borromeo Church. Today we face unprecedented challenges on every front. The evils of “this present darkness” weigh heavy against us. Perhaps this is what makes the advice of Saint Padre Pio, a holy man from our own age, so valuable and insightful. "Some people are so foolish that they think they can go through life without the help of the Blessed Mother. Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evils of the world today. All graces given by God pass through the Blessed Mother." —Saint Padre Pio Please note: members of The Legion of Mary will pray the Holy Rosary at 9:30A.M. each Sunday before the 10AM Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church.

Respect Life Month Please read the Respect Life Reflection insert, and as you do, ask the Holy Spirit to help us bring hope to a world that struggles with the issues of human life.

Public Square Rosary Crusade

Pray the Holy Rosary Saturday, October 12th at 12:00 Noon Outside of Sacred Heart Church

Clifton Heights

In The Secret of the Rosary, Saint Louis de Montfort said: “Public

prayer is far more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call

down His mercy, and Holy Mother Church, guided by

the Holy Ghost, has always advocated public prayer in times of public tragedy and suffering.”

Today is Respect Life Sunday We proclaim that human life is a precious gift from God;

that each person who receives this gift has responsibilities toward God, self and others; and that society, through its

laws and social institutions, must protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence.

40 Days for Life The Fall 2019 Campaign of “40 Days for Life” runs through November 3. Whether you’ve had an opportunity to join in prayer at a local Planned Parenthood yet or not, this can be your time to get involved and to join with other parishioners in helping to build a Culture of Life in the Philadelphia area. Since its beginnings in the early 2000’s, “40 Days for Life” has seen 16,000 babies saved at clinics where campaigns were held. In addition, 100 abortion facili-ties have closed following “40 Days for Life” campaigns. How wonderful to know that you personally played a part in bringing all of this about. Pray, then act! There are several local campaigns which you can find by going to 40DaysForLife.com, or call Raphael (610-613-7481) for more information and/or car pooling arrangements.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? SEEING IS BELIEVING!

For some, this event might change everything. Dynamic lay evangelist Tim Francis will be presenting his first ever live presentation in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia at 7:00PM on October 28th, 29th, and 30th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help 2130 Franklin Avenue, Morton PA. Tim’s presentation entitled, “Signs from God: Science Tests Faith,” includes Tim’s own dramatic story of his return to the Catholic Church with amazing video clips of well-documented Eucharistic miracles and other present-day mystical phenomenon that changed his life and is changing the lives of many others who have attended his presentations at hundreds of parishes across the U.S. Tim has appeared on EWTN and many other Catholic TV and radio stations and we are blessed to have him come to our area. If you have loved ones who are lukewarm or have left the faith, bring them. This event is one not to miss. To see a short video on Tim’s ministry, visit: www.OLPHmorton.org.

S T R I V E

We all know that pornography is a silent epidemic, tearing apart countless marriages and families. I’m writing to let you know about a

powerful new tool designed to help Catholic men who are struggling in this area. STRIVE is a 21-day detox from porn developed by

Matt Fradd, and published by Philadelphia based Cardinal Studios. Thousands of men from around the world have seen a powerful

transformation in their lives with this online series. STRIVE is available in both English and Spanish, and is offered at no cost.

STRIVE is the most powerful tool I’ve seen to help men break free from the grips of pornography. I encourage anyone in ministry to

utilize this innovative resource that meets men right where they are and draws them toward a life of freedom. You can see more

about STRIVE and order cards for the confessionals by going to this link: https://www.cardinalstudios.org/strive-parish-resources-1 I

pray this bears much fruit for the men of your parish.

Gratefully yours in Jesus Christ,

Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. Archbishop of Philadelphia

What is it? STRIVE is a powerful 21-Day Challenge (videos, written content, worksheets) by Matt Fradd that helps men understand why they go to porn in the first place, why they should break-free, and how to do so. It's not a silver bullet, but a highly effective resource that equips men with the knowledge, tools, and accountability needed to quit porn and begin to live the life to which God is calling them. Does it work? Yes! We've received over 6,000 comments from men already whose lives are being transformed in ways they never thought possible. See reviews below. What Does it Cost? FREE. For a limited time, the cost of STRIVE has been underwritten, so it is FREE for your men to register! STRIVE usually costs $49 for each individual. If 100 men at your parish sign-up, that's a savings of almost $5,000! How best to share STRIVE? We have several resources below to help you spread the word. The best way is through STRIVE Cards to hand out to men, and for your team to have on-hand. You can order those above in boxes of 250.
