Becoming a Catholic or Adult Confirmation Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Were you never Confirmed and now find that you would like to complete your Sacraments of Initiation? Are you interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then Faith Formation is for you! Call the Parish Center for more information.
Baptism Baptisms are celebrated on various Sundays throughout the year at 1:15 p.m. You are encouraged to register for the baptism BEFORE YOUR CHILD IS BORN, so that it is easier to attend the required Baptism Preparation Class. Please call the Center and we will be happy to set up an appointment. Many parents also use this opportunity to register in the Parish as a new parishioner. Information about Godparents is available on the website.
Marriage We are happy to arrange for your wedding. First, we have the marriage interview and then we can set the date for the wedding. More information is available on the website. Please call the Center for an appointment and we will be happy to help you!
Reconciliation Confessions are heard in our Church Reconciliation Room (in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel) on Saturdays from 4:00 until 4:45 p.m. You are also welcome to call the Center and make an appointment to celebrate the Sacrament.
Anointing of the Sick We encourage all those eligible for this Sacrament to be anointed after the Noon Mass on the first Sunday of the month or by calling the Center. Those eligible are those who are about to undergo an operation; are suffering from serious illness and the condition has worsened; or are enduring the weakening effects of advancing age and it has been one year since they were last anointed.

We will be having a plant auction, so please bring something from your garden or a flowering plant that you purchase so we can raffle them off. We will also be signing up for the June luncheon. How come my friend couldn’t get a “sponsor letter?” Sometimes parishes ask for a letter from the parish of the godparent to make sure that they are appropriate sponsors. They are baptized and confirmed Catholics, and if they are married, they are married in the Catholic Church. They can’t be a sponsor if they don’t meet the Church’s requirements for this ministry. The letter comes from the sponsor’s parish (and not from the church where they may have been baptized, confirmed or married).

First Reading: We witness the popularity of Paul
and Barnabas, chosen by the Holy Spirit as
missionaries of the Gospel. After an introductory
verse, the reading skips over Paul’s speech in the
synagogue on their first Sabbath in Antioch and
resumes with a description of its effect on many
who heard them. Their popularity soon led to
opposition from the Jews and even persecution.
Paul and Barnabas read this as a sign that they
should go to the Gentiles.
Responsorial Psalm 100: The first antiphon option
is particularly apropos in light of both today’s
Second Reading (last line) and the Gospel. Note,
also, the reference to “flock” in the second stanza
of this joyful hymn of praise.
Second Reading: Our reading from Revelation
echoes the theme of persecution heard in today’s
text from Acts of the Apostles. Here, the
focus is the eternal reward enjoyed by those who
are victorious. The Lamb who was sacrificed is at
the same time the Shepherd of his people.
Gospel: The reference to “follow” in today’s Gospel
harks back to today’s First Reading (those who
“followed” Paul and Barnabas). Those who heard
these missionaries, in effect, heard the word of God
which they spoke. In the Word of God proclaimed in
the liturgy, we likewise hear the voice of the Lord our
Shepherd.
About Good Shepherd Sunday: The Fourth
Sunday of Easter is traditionally referred to as
Good Shepherd Sunday. Hearing the Shepherd’s
voice, followers recognize and know it is their God.
Safe in the knowledge that they cannot be taken
from the hand of the Shepherd, those who hear his
voice follow as faithful believers willing to go where
God calls and sends them. When all the clamor of
false voices and seductive distractions threaten to
overwhelm, we have only to listen carefully to be led
to do the work of the Father.
