Business ChallengesThe client needed a partner that could:

• Define the strategy and an implementation plan for a automation tool for mobile application in order to eliminate federated apps development currently underway at the organization

• Co-establish the Mobile Apps Factory while ensuring undeterred quality and compliance to global and regional pharma policies

• Provide mobile app solutioning and development capability

• Target the launch of great volumes of enterprise mobile application globally, while localized to the launch regions

• Drive innovation at the automation tool for mobile application

The HCL Solution HCL established a unique, centralized Mobile Applications Factory and Support Center for the client - which has, over the course of a year, rolled out nearly 50 mobile applications catering to enterprise users, healthcare professionals and patients worldwide. Key tenets of the engagement are:

• Establishment of automation tool for mobile application for mobile applications development and support on the foundation of 3 key areas: Factory Governance; Connectivity and Infrastructure; Applications Delivery

• Establishment of a scalable and globally replicable model for a fully functional apps factory—HCL’s core team of 10 individuals with proven expertise in enterprise mobile applications architecting and process consultancy collaborated with the client’s business and IT functions set up the following:

– The client’s governance council for managing enterprise mobile applications requests from Business and IT

Accelerating mobiles apps for quicker benefits realization HCL co-establishes Mobile Applications Factory to drive higher savings, faster launches and greater innovation

– Underlying factory infrastructure with in-depth research and vendor evaluation of mobile devices, mobile platform partners, design, development, quality, project management and productivity tools and MDM solutions

– Core processes for communication, flex resources onboarding, knowledge management, onsite solution architecture methodologies, application development and public launch, support handoffs and IT and data security

– Set of standards, best practices, pharma compliance adherence norms and accelerators related to application co-creation with client’s business, UX/UI designing, development, QA, launch and support

• Rapid application development of mobile solutions supporting leading OS platforms, devices and form factors while leveraging the latest mobile technologies. This was enabled by the flex team of the factory comprising of PMs, Analysts, Developers and Testers

• Introduction of a structured innovation process to drive excellence in incremental app development and breakthrough ideas using emerging technologies
