2020 - 2021This plan was created under the careful consideration and guidance of the Archdiocese of

Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education, the St. Anastasia Administration, the SAS Task

Force, and the SAS Virtual Learning Committee. The school reserves the right to edit the plan if

new information and data support a need for amendments.

St. Anastasia School is committed to making sure that students continue to experience the care and commitment of a well rounded quality Catholic and academic education while learning from a distance. We will continue to provide essential and engaging daily lessons, even through a virtual platform. We must acknowledge that virtual learning cannot replace all that happens in regular school day. However, we do contend that rigorous meaningful learning can still occur through virtual learning.

The purpose of this document is to present the community with our plan for virtual learning, and to provide in detail, the roles, responsibilities and expectations of our administration, faculty members, students, and families to ensure successful remote learning experiences. It’s our hope that with the Virtual Learning Plan (VLP) we will continue to live out the mission of St. Anastasia School.

The administration will send Constant Contact email updates to parents and faculty informing them of any pertinent information surrounding the status of cohort quarantines , school - wide shut down plans, and reopening in person learning plans, when and if needed . The decision to extend virtual learning will be made with close consultation with OCE, Fr. Colagreco, and local health agencies.

St. Anastasia School Mission

The mission of St. Anastasia School, a faith-based community, strives to instill academic excellence in our students. We encourage service to other by

proclaiming the Gospel of Christ to our community. We inspire students to deepen their personal relationship with Christ Jesus through their sacramental life. We empower our students to develop their individual potential and become

socially and morally responsible citizens ready to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We provide students with the rigor and relevance in all curriculum areas

which will enable them to become lifelong learners.

Communication

St. Anastasia School’s core technological and communication systems will be through Constant Contact, Zoom, Google Meet, SeeSaw, Google Classroom, and Teacher Emails.

Our school will continue to use the same channels it employs for normal day to day communications with parents, faculty, and students. All of these systems are remotely accessible and information to sign up for electronic notification can be found on our school website www.saintannies.org .

Communication

● Constant Contact:

○ Constant Contact will be used by the

administration for all major

communications and announcements.

Please make sure you are signed up with an

up to date email address.

● Teacher Emails:

○ Teacher emails will be used to

communicate with families directly.

● Zoom:○ Zoom is an easy and reliable online video

conferencing platform that will be used for

virtual learning and meetings. Zoom will be

available for teachers to use in grades PreS - 2.

● Google Meet:○ Google Meet is an online video conferencing

platform that allows for live virtual individual

and group meetings hosted by teachers. Google

Meet will be used by teachers in grades 3 - 8

and Specials .

Learning Management Systems (LMS)

SeeSaw (Grades K - 1):

● SeeSaw is an online digital portfolio for students to

create, post, and record assignments to capture

learning in a creative and digital way.

● Teachers will create assignments for students

through SeeSaw.

● Parents will be to access their child’s accounts to see

their work and leave messages.

Google Classroom (Grades 2 - 8 and Specials):

● Google Classroom is an online interactive platform for

teachers and students to manage virtual learning.

● Google Classroom makes it easy for students and

teachers to connect - inside and outside of school.

● All students will need to use their school gmail

account to gain access to Google Classroom.

Our technology tools are not device-specific, which means

students will be able to access learning through nearly any

electronic device (laptop, Chromebook, iPad, tablet, phone,

etc.). Students in grades 4 - 8 will have their school issued

Chromebooks to complete virtual assignments. Since online

requirements will be scheduled, we are confident that this

will allow for all family members to access their distant

learning assignments with ease.

Please note that we have a limited number of devices, but

will be able to loan extra devices to our families if needed.

Tips to Support Virtual Learning at Home and School

● Establish Routines and Expectations

● Define a Quiet, Physical Space for Learning

● Prepare for Virtual Lessons with the Necessary Materials

Teacher Expectations

● All virtual teachers will post a weekly schedule to virtual students on Sunday evenings by 9pm.

● All virtual teachers will conduct at least thirty minutes of instructional/academic learning time for their core

classes through Google Meet.

● All virtual teachers will communicate changes to the weekly schedule via email or LMS with 24 hours notice.

● All virtual teachers will post and communicate “Office Hours” to meet one on one or in small groups with

virtual students at least once a week.

● All virtual teachers will post grade wide information and resources on their grade’s Google Site.

● All virtual teachers will post specific class assignments and/or announcements on their LMS.

● All virtual teachers will provide feedback to virtual students and their families via email, comments on their

LMS, or through their weekly check ins through a Feedback Form.

Student Expectations

● All virtual learners will need to attend class on time and for the full duration of the class period.

● All virtual learners will need to be in an appropriate learning environment, free from loud noise and distractions. Food will

not permitted during live instruction.

● All virtual learners will need to be in a St. Anastasia golf shirt or gym shirt while in class.

● All virtual learners will join a class with their video screen on and keep it on for the duration of the class.

● All virtual learns will join their class on mute until teacher unmutes them, or gives them an opportunity to participate, or

ask a question.

● All virtual learners will actively participate in classroom discussions, collaborate, and support peers in learning goals.

● All virtual learners will use academic integrity and complete assignments to the best of their ability, independently, unless

otherwise specified by the teacher.

● All virtual learners will comply with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Responsible Use of Technology Policy, including

expectations for online etiquette.

● All virtual learners, (or their parents), will communicate questions or concerns with their teachers via email or LMS.

● The primary tools for communication between teachers and families will be through newsletters via email, personal emails from teachers, videos, and assignments that will be sent to families through SeeSaw.

● Students will have both off-and on-screen learning activities designed for engagement and connection to peers and curriculum.

● Resources will vary by class and lesson but will include links to videos, graphic organizers, scanned/uploaded materials to read and engage with, independent materials via online textbook, library resources, and e-books.

● Learning assignments and activities will provide direction to families on how to best support student learning and the expected level of adult involvement and supervision. It is expected that students in gradesK - 1 will need higher levels of support than in older grades.

● Resources will vary by class and lesson but will include links to videos, graphic organizers, scanned/uploaded materials to read and engage with, independent materials via online textbooks, library resources, and a variety of online resources.

● Learning assignments and activities are designed to be completed independently or in collaboration with other students, unless otherwise specified by the teacher, or a service plan is in place. It is expected that students in grades 2 - 3, occasionally, may need some levels of support.

● Students and parents are encouraged to be proactive in reaching out to teachers via email or through their LMS when they have question or assignments are unclear.

Grades 6 - 8

Considerations

● The primary tools for communication between teachers and families will be through personal emails from teachers, videos, and assignments that will be sent to families through Google Classroom.

● Students will have both off-and on-screen learning activities designed for engagement and connection to peers and curriculum.

● Resources will vary by class and lesson but will include links to videos, graphic organizers, scanned/uploaded materials to read and engage with, independent materials via online textbooks, library resources, and a variety of online resources.

● Learning assignments and activities are designed to be completed independently or in collaboration with other students, unless otherwise specified by the teacher, or a service plan is in place.

● Students are encouraged to regularly monitor online platforms and check for announcements and feedback from their teacher(s).

● Students are encouraged to be proactive in reaching out to teachers via email or through their LMS when they have question or assignments are unclear.

● Student will be responsible for making up missed work or communicating with the teacher on alternative makeup plans or assignments.

● A virtual meeting with a teacher(s) can be made available to support students with academic, social, or emotional needs. Please initiate contact by email.

Specials

Considerations

● The primary tools for communication between teachers and families will be through Google Sites and Google Classroom.

● Students will have both off-and on-screen learning activities designed for engagement and connection to peers and curriculum.

● Students in grades K - 3 will have the option to participate in Specials through live streaming or participating and submitting alternate activities provided by the Specials Teachers.

● Students in grades 4 - 8 will be required to participate in Specials through live streaming during their assigned Specials times.

● Mr. Davis will provide all virtual learners alternative assignments to complete for Physical Education class.

● Specials Assignments will be posted on the Special Teacher’s Google Site page. They can be found at www.saintannies.org under the Contact Us/Teacher Sites Tab.
