We would like to wish Aaron Foreman, Senior at Midwest City High School, the best of luck as he advances as a finalist for The Gates Millennium Scholarship.

Mid-Del hosted a Legislative Briefing at the Mid-Del Technology Center. Thank you to Representative Scott Inman, Representative Gary Banz, and

Representative Mike Shelton for attending.

Congratulations to the Carl Albert High School Chess team for being named Oklahoma State High School Chess Champions!

Mid-Del hosted a documentary and panel discussion for all 9th grade Oklahoma History students from all three high schools. The documentary focused on the Sit-Ins that occurred in Oklahoma City. Members on the panel were children who participated in the numerous Sit-Ins that took place for over six years. Mid-Del students asked numerous questions of the panel. A special thank you to Rose State College and the Civic Center for hosting this amazing event for our students and staff. In addition, thank you to the Mid-Del Public Schools Foundation for providing the funding for this amazing program.

The Del Crest Falcons held a program celebrating Black History Month. The program incorporated the leadership and talents of a variety of students, faculty members, as well as Mr. Nathan McGuire, the first African American teacher at Del Crest. A special thank you to the Del City High School Stomp Team and Drum Line for sharing your talents.

Julian Hibbard, Midwest City High School, was named the 2016 Mid-Del Teacher of the Year. Hibbard was recognized at the District's Teacher of the Year Banquet hosted by Cornerstone Church. It was also sponsored by the Del City and Midwest City Chambers of Commerce's Celebrating Education committee. Hibbard will represent Mid-Del in the State Teacher of the Year program in the fall.

Cameron Payne and Josh Huestis, from the Oklahoma City Thunder, read to students at Cleveland Bailey. The students listened to the players read about Black History month. Thank you Oklahoma City Thunder for coming to Cleveland Bailey Elementary.

Our Parkview Elementary teachers having fun celebrating the 100th day of school.

Dr. Cobb mentored students from the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce's Youth Excel program. Sydney Breckenridge, Brylee Hinson, and Kenzie Holland are students from Carl Albert High School.

Members of the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Midwest City Class were principals for a day in Mid-Del Schools. They were able to experience life as a principal for a short period of time. Afterwards, they shared their feedback from the shadowing. The class was amazed by our principals, teachers and students.

Our fifth grade Stallions presented a living museum exhibit based on the biographies they completed about important historical characters. The students were dressed in historical attire and presented important stories from the heroes and heroines of the American Revolutionary War.

Congratulations Pleasant Hill Elementary! They took second place in the Think Through Math (TTM) Oklahoma Math Cup! The school

will receive a banner and a $100 Wal-Mart gift card.

Miyah Lawrence, a 4th grade Parkview Elementary student, wrote a letter to President Obama last summer encouraging him to feature a woman on the redesigned $10 bill. Miyah wrote the letter with the help of her family at home. She received a letter from President Obama on February 5th, 2016, thanking her for writing the letter and sharing her views. Along with a letter from the President, she received a package including First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy nutrition information with the White House Garden, a picture of President Obama, a picture of the First Family and baseball type cards of the family pets. Great job sharing your ideas and thoughts Miyah!
