Welcome to Bethesda Frankel Estate Church

Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth, will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.- Isaiah 43:18,19

Four occasions where the words “Fear not …” used in the passage from Isaiah 42:18 to 44:8

Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Ephesians 4:26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger

Quotes – C S Lewis

Since it is so likely that children will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage.

There are only two kinds of people: those who say to God, “Thy will be done,” and those to whom

God says, “All right, then, have it your way.”

Discussion Questions: (Read Is 43: 1 - 28)

1. Describe a journey or an experience when you encountered fear. What caused the fear? How did you cope or overcome the fear?

2. List 3 assurances that God gives to the people of Israel. Identify one stumbling block.

3. What are the assurances that help you in fear? What are the stumbling blocks?

4. How does a servant heart help us to overcome fear (Is 44:1-5)

5. How would a proper vision of our Creator God assure us (Is 44: 6-8)

6. List 2 ways that idolatry distract us? (Is 43:9-18)

7. List three ways/principles that will help our youths “spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams” and three ways/ principles that make them wither.

8. As a group; use Isaiah 43: 21-28 to give thanks to God for what He has done in your life.

2019 THEME VERSE Isaiah 43:18,19 “Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”

Date Topic

27 Jan Isa 42:18 - 44:8 Israel’s Weakness and Blindness; The Lord’s Power

3 Feb Isa 44:6 - 45:25 The Lord and the Idols (II); Cyrus as the Lord’s Servant

The prophecy of Isaiah addressed sinful Judah. They had forsaken the Lord & thus suffered God’s judgment by the Babylonians. In Isa 40-55, God spoke to the future of the people of Judah. Despite their sin-fulness, God would not abandon them but wanted them to trust in Him, reminding them of His majestic sovereignty over the world, and His steadfast love and commitment to them. A second and greater exodus is promised through the Servant of the Lord. Isaiah’s message is still relevant today. He calls us to trust and hope in Him for the sal-vation which His Servant has accomplished, and to be ready to depart in the new exodus. Will we listen and obey Him? This 19-part Isaiah series will stretch through the year but it will be done in several phases, interspersed by other topical series. Do pray along for these brethren who will be taking us through the series: Dr Philip Satterthwaite, Elders Alex, Ernest, Joshua, Caleb, Melville, Deacons Jason, Daryl and bro Lai Yong.

Pulpit Series 1 (a) on Isaiah 40 - 55: Supreme God, Suffering Servant - Our Sure Hope of Salvation

Equipping for Ministry (EFM): EFM is based on the Navigators 2:7 Series which is anchored on Colossians 2:6-7 “therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being build up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with grati-tude”. EFM is an intentional mentoring & discipleship program which aims to equip followers of Christ in a foundational study of God’s word and in personal and ministry and leadership skills. We meet weekly from 12.30-2.00pm on Sundays and the program starts on 3 Mar. Contact Soon Boon (94517122) or Danny for more details.
