Larry 0 Toole RPS codtants admitted at oral hearing [ all on record 1 that this p r o p o d landill wiIl leak 100 litres per day. So a calcdation , 100 x 365 days year x 30 years = 1095000 [ over a million litres of poison 1. World experts have calculated for this size of landfill, it would be between 100 and 1000 litres PIUS per day. So we now have between one million and over ten million litres plus of leachate over h e life of this proposed 1andfill.This is crazy trying to locate a large W in the middle of the biggest, cleanest [ EPA ] and most important food producing aquifer in IRELAND. Why did you not locate this landfill outside this aquifer ?. It is quite obvious, this landfill will put PUBLIC HEALTH at risk through the con tamination of our food and water.
Geological Survey of Xreland [ GSI J Ref. Letter to Paddy Boyle . They will bok at re-assessment of this aquifer when more information is gatbered. NLAG has a survey of wells that is approximately 45 YO complete. Fingd County CounciI are required by law to have all this information on these wells. This aquifer is dassified as locally important but when you have a public, p u p scheme and industrial supplies , the aquifer automatically jumps into an R3- R4 classification. Thomas Moore and Thomas Kmigan are industrial wells W s s o r s 3 and there zone of contribution [ zoc 3 extends into the Nevitt site [ &er all they are down gradient of the Nevitt ] - GSI have ais0 the Bog of the Ring zoc extending into the Nevi# site. There has been a lot of discussion about where the water devide is and both sides can not agree where it is. May we suggest with the introduction of the gravel and bedrock maps at the oral hearing, you can cIearly see a devide with the bedrock and if you look at the different depths of gravel, and gravel pathways and 50 % approximately of topography is sloping down to the Bog of the Ring, it is logical that the water devide is going through this propased 1 d i U fie in the northern part of this proposed landfill 3. Under tbe rules of the DOELG, EPA, and GSI and we have a mc of a public water supply and two mc of industrial wells extending into the Nevitt site, you cannot put a landill at the Nevitt. As a matter of fa, there are a lot of industrid wells in this aquifer, and with our small survey of i n d m wells, the majority of this a q W is R3 - R4 and therefore you cannot put a landfill in this aquifer. After all, this qui fkr is the biggest, cleanest and most important FOOD PRODUCING aquifer in IRELAND. Enclose ; [Ref. It is very clear we know the water is flowing from West to East. If you put a
landfill in this AqUif8r, lechate will leak out as recognised by the EPA and
tarry O’Toole, RPS. (100 litres per day) 100 x 365 x 30= 1,095,000 litres. So RPS and Fingal County Council want to put over 7 million litres of
poison into the most important food producing Aquifer in Ireland. This huge Horticuitural Industry will be destroyed and a future extension to the
water supply will also be destroyed. We need to protect this Aquifer for
this generation and for future generations.

Re: Aquifer ebsifkadon of the area arovnd propmped Iandfll2 Nevitt, Co. I)rrbMn
Dear Mr. Boyk,
Thank you for your letter dated 911012006, which I received on 1011 0/2006 together with a copy of the report (dad 3I10912006) that you had mt to the EPA contahhg, amongst other information, details of the well m y that was conductal by Nevitt-Lusk Action Group (NLAG) in the vicinity of the proposed landfill at the Nevitt. I received a type-dtten version of the sarne le tb from you on 13/10/2006.
I note your f-1 request for the GSI to reclassify to "'Regbdly Important" the aquifer in the area for which you conducted a well survey (Le., in the area to the east and southeast of the proposed landfill at Nevi#).
Please note that the GSI undertook a majw review of aquifkr classifications across Ireland in 2002-2004, which includes tht area in North County Dublin. We examined carefully the data available to us at the time and arrived at rhe c m t aquikr classifications using considerable experience, knowledge and assessment of m y data nationally according to a clear set of criteria-
The GSI only considers re-evaluating aquifer categories if a significant body of new data of suitable quality m provided, The informatioh submitted by WLAG are not adequate on their own For a re-assessmt of the aquifer classification far the mtsms outlined below. Note m y not lead to a change in the c~&ssific.atim a1

It IS not specified whether the abstraction rates given are sustainhie yieIds, i.e.. estimated from pumping tests lasting at lmst three days or proven long-term a h t i o n rates. Yield estimates tmde whitst drilling can only be used as a g a d guide to potential actual yields. Long-tenn a b h d o n rates assessed in the context of othm nearby borehoie extractions, or smultamous punrping tesb conducfcd on adjacent boreholes, are q u i d to help determine the long- t a m total abstraction that the aquifer'can sustain. There arc m drawdown data included with the submission. Whilst borehote yield is used in the assessment of aquifer resource potential, this factor alone is not sufficient to charactetisc the aquifer. We a h we mnmissivity data ( w h e available), and a pmhctivity index' developed by Wright, 2 0 . The pmdwtivity index uses abstraction rate stnd drawdown information, and is a proxy of how transmissive the aquifer i2. Thc data are from an area that is relatively small cornpad to the whole m a of the Upper Impure Limestone m k unit graup that is classified as Lm We would need to examine the area that you outbe in the context of the whole North Co. Note that yield and productivity indices are not thc only criteria used whm deriving aquifer classification. Please ste the Cis1 website (hnp:I/www.gYi.j~workgsi/~~undw~t~/~~ntro.htm) for Further information on dtc CSl's aquifer classification methodology
