UConn Earns Three Points From #12 UMass Lowell; Maine Sweeps UNH York To Be Inducted Into Hall Of Fame Monday Night

Boston College Head Hockey Coach Jerry York, the winningest coach in col-lege hockey history, will be formally inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame at the Induction Celebration on Monday night (Nov. 18) in Toronto. The ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air live on NHL Network in the U.S. and TSN2 in Canada. Over the weekend, York coached his team to a sweep at Vermont and the Eagles have now won five straight games, outscoring opponents 22-4 in that span.
UConn took three of four points from #12 UMass Lowell over the weekend, earning a 3-3 tie at home before toppling the River Hawks, 2-1, on the road. Tomas Vom-acka (Trutnov, Czech Republic) helped back-stop the Huskies, stopping 12 shots in the 3-3 tie, and 29 shots to come away with a 2-1 upset on the road over the River Hawks.
Maine is off to a 7-3-2 overall start after sweeping New Hampshire at Alfond Arena over the weekend. Mitchell Fossier (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied three assists, includ-ing a helper on the overtime game winner on Saturday night. The senior also broke the 100-career point mark on Saturday night with his game-winning overtime assist.
Boston University and #5 Massachusetts split a weekend series. Terriers goal-tender Sam Tucker (Wilton, Conn.) combined for 85 saves in the weekend split with #5 UMass including a career-high 49-save effort in Friday’s 4-3 win. David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) netted a goal in that win, his sixth tally in three games. Farrance now has seven goals in eight Hockey East games on the year, with 16 contests remaining. The single-season Hockey East record for goals by a defense-man is 13, set by Rob Cowie in 1990-91.
#10 Providence and #14 Northeastern split a high-scoring series. The Friars took game one, 3-2, thanks to two-point nights from Jack Dugan (Rochester, N.Y.) and Tyce Thompson (Milford, Conn.). Saturday saw Northeastern’s offense explode for a 7-3 victory. Matt Filipe (Lynnfield, Mass.) posted a team-high four points (2g, 2a).

PRO AMBITIONS ROOKIE OF THE WEEKSPENCER KNIGHT BOSTON COLLEGESpencer Knight (Darien, Conn.) stopped 61 of the 62 shots he faced on the road at Vermont this weekend, picking up .948 save percentage. On Saturday, he registered his third shutout in 11 starts by making 34 saves, including 17 in the first period, and pushed his personal win-ning streak to five games.
WYATT NEWPOWER UCONNWyatt Newpower (Hugo, Minn.), the Huskies’ senior captain, had a three-point weekend as the Huskies took three points from then-#12 UMass Lowell. On Friday night, Newpower had a pair of assists in a 3-3 tie, his sixth career multi-point game. On Saturday night, Newpower scored his first goal of the season, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead in the second on the way to a 2-1 upset on the road.
JEREMY SWAYMAN MAINEJeremy Swayman (An-chorage, Alaska) saved 62 of 64 shots this past week-end. The junior helped thwart the UNH power play unit by only allowing just one goal during their seven chances. Swayman allowed one goal Friday night, and one power play goal Saturday night. Sway-man has backstopped Maine to a 7-3-2 overall start and second place in Hockey East.

The senior from Parker, Texas dished out an assist and scored a goal for his 100th career point on Friday before collecting two assists in Saturday’s 3-0 victory.
