Producers 1st tropic level

• can make their own food - turn energy from the sun into sugar through photosynthesis

Primary Consumers 2nd Tropic level

• Eat only producers - gets energy from producers cows horses deer rabbits

Secondary Consumers 3rd tropic Level• Eat primary consumers - usually carnivores –

fox coyote snake

Tertiary Consumers 4th tropic level

• Eat both primary and secondary consumers – carnivores Eagles wolves

Quandary Consumers 5th Tropic Level

• Eat primary, secondary and tertiary consumers Top of the food chain –

• lions, great white sharks

• Eat only plants

Carnivores

• Eat only meat

Omnivores

• Eat both plants and meat

autotroph

• Organisms that can make their own food – same as producers

heterotroph

• General name for all organism that cannot make their own food – all consumers

Decomposers

• Organisms that break down dead organisms for energy
