fond farewells - ironstone academy

The time has come to say a sad, but fond farewell to our current Year 6 pupils. They will be moving on to their secondary schools in September. The majority of our pupils have already left due to their Secondary School transition arrangements. All of the Y6 pupils have worked hard in their final year and should be very proud of their achievements. Many of our Year 6 children have represented our school in a number of sporting events, including Netball, Football and Cross Country. The theatrical amongst them have displayed their talents in the Ormesby Factor, Glee Club and the Year 6 production ‘An Inspector Calls’. They have taken their Year 6 responsibilities seriously, from our Head Girl and Head Boy, right through to our Buddies and Eco Warriors. Thank you, Year 6, for making a difference at Ormesby Primary School. FOND FAREWELLS I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE! Following hot on the wheels of our Year 5 pupils and their Bikeability sessions, the children in Owls and Foxes have taken part in Balance Bike sessions. These sessions have been organised through Ryehills Secondary School and have been led by their trainer Martin Manson. The children used special bikes without pedals and worked through sessions that helped them develop their balance and steering skills. By learning on these balance bikes, the children should be off to a head start when they start to learn to ride without stabilisers. The sessions took part over the last two weeks of term in July and they were really interactive. The children had lots of fun zooming around in the hall and on the playground. Don’t they look cute! On Thursday 29th June 2017, the Ironstone Academy Trust held a charity concert in aid of “Help for Heroes”. All of the schools in the Multi-Academy Trust took part in a fantastic after school music festival at Normanby Primary School. The damp weather didn’t deter people and lots of families came to take part in the event. Ormesby Primary School’s choir sang a version of the song, “I am a small part of the World”, with an impressive solo performance from Lucy Kinchin in Year 5. The crowds were kept entertained by patriotic songs such as “Rule Britannia”, “The World in Union” and a medley of tunes from World War 2. Lots of Union Jacks were flying in time to the songs. There were also rhythmic performances by a recorder group and a samba band. The evening was rounded off with an entertaining set from local band, “The Beer Pigs”. A big thank you to all the pupils and staff who took part, especially Miss Tingle for her work with the choir. HELP FOR HEROES CONCERT

The time has come to say a sad, but fond farewell to our

current Year 6 pupils. They will be moving on to their

secondary schools in September. The majority of our pupils

have already left due to their Secondary School transition

arrangements. All of the Y6 pupils have worked hard in their

final year and should be very proud of their achievements.

Many of our Year 6 children have represented our school in a

number of sporting events, including Netball, Football and

Cross Country. The theatrical amongst them have displayed

their talents in the Ormesby Factor, Glee Club and the Year

6 production ‘An Inspector Calls’. They have taken their Year

6 responsibilities seriously, from our Head Girl and Head Boy,

right through to our Buddies and Eco Warriors. Thank you,

Year 6, for making a difference at Ormesby Primary School.

FOND FAREWELLS

I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE!

Following hot on the wheels of our Year 5 pupils and their Bikeability

sessions, the children in Owls and Foxes have taken part in Balance

Bike sessions. These sessions have been organised through Ryehills

Secondary School and have been led by their trainer Martin Manson.

The children used special bikes without pedals and worked through

sessions that helped them develop their balance and steering skills. By

learning on these balance bikes, the children should be off to a head

start when they start to learn to ride without stabilisers. The

sessions took part over the last two weeks of term in July and they

were really interactive. The children had lots of fun zooming around in

the hall and on the playground. Don’t they look cute!

On Thursday 29th June 2017, the Ironstone Academy Trust

held a charity concert in aid of “Help for Heroes”. All of the

schools in the Multi-Academy Trust took part in a fantastic

after school music festival at Normanby Primary School. The

damp weather didn’t deter people and lots of families came to

take part in the event. Ormesby Primary School’s choir sang a

version of the song, “I am a small part of the World”, with an

impressive solo performance from Lucy Kinchin in Year 5. The

The children and staff in Year 1 and 2 had a amazing time at a

Monster Ball on Friday 14th July. This was to mark the end of

all the fantastic work the children had completed based on the

2013 Pixar film, “Monsters University”. During this project,

the children were visited by monsters who left tell tale foot

prints to show they had been looking around our school. The

children enjoyed doing lots of writing about monsters and made

very scary masks to wear at the Monster Ball. A fun time was

had by all. Thank you to all the staff in the KS One Team for

planning a fabulously scary topic!

At the end of this school year, we will sadly be saying

goodbye to three members of staff who are retiring.

Maureen Johnson (on the right in the picture opposite) has

been the Cook at Ormesby Primary School for 25 years.

Barbara Smith (on the left in the photo) has been

Maureen’s trusty assistant, also for 25 years. Over this

time, these two ladies have consistently produced delicious

school meals for our pupils. The lady in the centre of the

picture is Julia Huckins who has been a Teaching Assistant

for 11 years. These three lovely ladies have been a great

asset to Ormesby Primary with their dedicated and hard

working approach. We will miss them greatly, but it is time

for them to enjoy their well deserved retirement. From all

the children and the staff: thank you for everything ladies

and Happy Retirement!

Sea and Sand, but where was the Sun?

On Tuesday 11th July 2017 the pupils and staff in Y3

and 4 had a day out in Saltburn. They spent time

playing in the Valley Gardens, enjoyed making sand

castles with their buckets and spades on the beach and

had a stroll along the pier. After all that activity, they

enjoyed some chips and a lovely ice cream cone.

Despite the British weather being not so good, the

children and staff had a great time by the seaside.

Thank you to Mrs Loughran, Mrs Wilmot, Miss Tingle

and Mr Griffiths for organising the visit. Also, thank

you to all the staff who accompanied the children on

their seaside sojourn.
