REDEEMER VIEWS DECEMBER 2017
Merry Christmas It is the nature of children to be excited about presents under the Christmas tree I canrsquot fault them I too was a child and enjoyed all the same But as I am now 50 years old the novelty of presents under the tree have lost there luster and so finding the joy of Christmas forces meus to look elsewherehellip And that is okay We should look elsewhere anyhow Christmas is more than tinsel shiny paper and bows Christmas is about another much more precious gift The gift of Immanuel The gift of Christ in the Cregraveche The gift of joy hope and love This is something we Christian parents tell our children every year but sometimes in the hustle and bustle of the season we can lose our focus Letrsquos make a promise not do that this year Letrsquos make a renewed commitment to make the gift of Christmas all about the Gift of Jesus Jesus is the good news message of the angels Jesus is the good news message of the church We are in the world to proclaim the good news of Jesus so lets do it Remember time catches up with us allhellip so whether we are 5 50 or 105 let us as faithful members of Redeemer strive to renew our love and commitment to Christ and His beloved Church And let us renew our baptismal and confirmation vows to this community of neighbors and friends and even more than that a community of saintshellip brothers and sisters in the Faith with us all around

wonderful meal for the funeral The Redeemer family has always been a big part of the Martens

A NOTE FROM THE PARISH NURSE
Remembering Caregivers Most of us have cared for or will care for an adult friend or family
member who is ill frail or disabled Some 40 million Americans are now doing so and the need will only grow as our aging population grows Caring for loved ones has become more complicated and
demanding in part because hospitals are discharging patients more quickly to cut costs Most caregivers now regularly perform medical
tasks that used to be handled by nurses Caregivers need to recognize the value of their contributions while receiving the help
they deserve We can recognize the value of caregivers especially this Christmas as we remember the sacrifice of our Savior when he came to earth to redeem us and save us Give a Christmas gift of caring and take a moment to thank our many caregivers and offer
help to make their care giving easier Even something as simple as a meal or giving them a break by staying with their loved one can
say volumes There are only four kinds of people in the world those who have been caregivers those who are currently caregivers those
who will be caregivers and those who will need caregivers

Advent Devotions 2017ndash LOVE came Down In Love Came Down we see how the Heavenly Father
spared nothingndash not even His own Sonndash to work out our salvation Though we had rebelled in our sins and
spurned God and His Commandments He chose usndash not for exclusion but redemption The Fatherrsquos love
sought us out in our perilous condition and in His infinite mercy bridged the divide to our isolation though Jesusndash
the one Mediator between God and Man
The story of our salvation is a hard-fought victory What began in a humble manger stall in Bethlehem on
Christmas morn reached its zenith when Jesusndash child of Mary Son of Godndash was crucified died and rose from the dead three days later This is what God did for us this is
what happened with love came down

THE TREE THAT REMEMERS
There is a tree in New Ulm that is very special It remembers many loved ones who have
died Many people have children siblings grandchildren and other loved ones who have
died and they have put their names on the ornaments and
hung them on THE TREE THAT REMEMBERS
If you would like to add an ornament you may bring it to the New Ulm Medical Center
Chapel THE TREE THAT REMEMBERS will be available for you to see and hang your
ornament on after Thanksgiving and will remain
up until the New Year
The ornaments are removed after the new year begins and are carefully packed away and
stored until next year when THE TREE THAT REMEMBERS
will once again be available to receive your ornaments This
tree is sponsored by the South Central Minnesota Chapter of the Compassionate Friends
KINDER HAUS HAPPENINGS OctoberNovember 2017
A Mighty Fortress is our God Trumpets sound The call goes out ldquoHear Ye Hear Yerdquo and then the message
1 ldquoGod is Mighty He has won the victoryrdquo 2 ldquoFear Not He has won the victoryrdquo 3 ldquoGodrsquos Word is true and powerfulrdquo He has won the victoryrdquo
The children really like doing the trumpet call and gospel message We shared this with Pastor Tammy Jaime and the ladies coming for Bible Study on Reformation Day We were dressed in our costumes and the gospel message was our ldquotreatrdquo for them As we dressed up we talked about never being able to hide from God because God always knows us and is with us We sing ldquoHe is our Mighty Fortress and Jesus is His Namerdquo (to the tune of Joshua fought the battle of Jericho) We are also learning the song ldquoMy God is so Bigrdquo We have built many walls with our blocks Some walls are stronger than others It helps when we stagger the block size We have built many towers with different types of blocks Some towers we can make really tall We really like to knock the walls and towers down Then we talk about Jesus knocking the walls of sin death and the devil down He has won the victory for us We cannot do it ourselves but Jesus did it for us by dying and rising again and that gives us victory and life with Him forever in heaven Williamrsquos mom brought us pictures of real castles that she saw in Scotland The castles are big and tall and strong but God our Mighty Fortress is bigger and stronger God will protect us
We are learning right and wrong Some days are hard We still sin but are working on doing the right things We donrsquot always do it and we cannot pay the price for our sin But we donrsquot have to be afraid Jesus has paid the price when He died on the cross and rose again Jesus has won the victory and that makes us free to live a life of thanks giving We say ldquoThank You Godrdquo by sharing His love with others being nice doing good things and helpful things for others We are learning to live a life of thanks giving
We painted fall leaves and learned that Godrsquos love for us never changes He always loves us We made a fall scene using our arm and hand as the tree and then made colored finger prints for the leaves We added squirrels and nuts We are using our fine motor skills to pick up nuts with big tweezers We are learning the gospel in a nut shell John 316
We are learning nursery rhymes We act them our We do activities with them 1 Spiders and spider webs 2 Spiders and colors 3 Counting pumpkins 4 Finding pumpkins 5 Making pies (apple and pumpkin) 6 Matching shapes (little medium large) 7 We color
Thank you for supporting our craftbake sale and food stand May God bless you this Thanksgiving and may your life be a thanks living to God because He has won the victory
Celebrating Our Mighty Fortress with Thanks Living Jeanne Holten Director
