Follow these easy steps to schedule an online consultation through an e-tutoring
appointment:
Go to the TLC scheduler and sign in. You must use your @uw.edu email address.
You will need to create a new account once each year.
Follow the link on the left side of the screen to “Click here to register” to create an account.
The scheduler system gathers some basic information from you to ensure that your account will
be accurate and secure.
Once you’ve logged in to your account, you will see the master appointment schedule. Dates are
listed separately in blue as you scroll down the page. Each date has the TLC hours listed across
the top in gray and TLC consultants listed on the left side in white.
From the master appointment schedule, you can view previous or upcoming weeks via the links
in the blue banner at the top of the page.
This banner also has other useful tools for you, including a link to email the TLC, attach a
document, check in for an appointment (not for e-Tutoring), and browse the scheduler system’s
Help information.
From the master appointment scheduler, you can click on a blank white box in each row to read a
short bio of the corresponding consultant.
The white boxes are available appointment times. To make an appointment, click on the white
box that corresponds to the date, time, and consultant you prefer for the consultation.
The smaller screen with the consultant’s bio, drop-down menus, and blank boxes will appear.
The first field allows you to reserve 30 mins. or 60 mins. for your appointment. For a 30 mins.
appointment, you do not need to do anything. For a 60 mins. appointment, you need to adjust the
end time by using the drop-down menu to find and select the appropriate time.
The second field allows you to schedule an e-Tutoring appointment. You must use the drop-
down menu to select “Yes—Schedule e-Tutoring Appointment” to use the Online Writing
Center.
The remaining fields ask for information about your course, instructor, and writing concerns.
Please be as accurate and thorough as you can when completing these fields. This information
really helps us to help you!
There may not be time for the consultant to review the entire project, so prioritize your concerns
and be specific about your needs. Use the Questions section below to help you describe what you
want from the consultation.
Be sure to click “Save Appointment” at the bottom of the screen when you’re done filling out
this form.
The next screen confirms your appointment and prompts you to upload your file.
Please only upload Microsoft Word files (.doc or .docx).
Upload any pertinent assignment instructions, rubrics, or other supplemental materials using the
same form multiple times. Click “Close Window” when you are done uploading all of the
documents you want to share with your writing consultant.
Alternatively, you can return to the scheduler at any time before your consultation and upload a
file using the “yellow folder” icon in the top left corner of the screen.
If you have scheduled more than one appointment, then you can use the drop-down menu to
select which appointment this attachment is for.
Click “Close Window” when you are done attaching files.
Log out of the scheduler and wait for your e-Tutoring consultation to conclude.
When your appointment time passes, you can access the consultant’s comments on your
document by logging back into the scheduler and clicking on the box that was your original
appointment.
The smaller screen will appear with a new file attached. The file may not be titled “review,”
“feedback,” or “comments,” but it will have the consultant’s comments within.
Feel free to call (253-692-4417) or email ([email protected]) the TLC with questions at any
time.
Thank you for using the Online Writing Center!
