Escola Carlos Gargaté

During  July, Almada celebrates the popular  celebraitions. A litle bit in all region, Almada fills up with colours, music and animation.

The celebrities and traditional folk dances usually animate the historic centreof Almada and Cacilhas. In the streets, there are concerts and life music, on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays.

The Municipal Sports Complex City of Almada , in Feijó, welcomes Alentejo Song groups and the National Folklore Festival.

Folclore

Since 1992, we have  the Tradition popular marches in Saint John’s evening (São João). Even the young people present their marches in Liberty square, in Almada.

Formerly, Cacilhas was known as the land of donkeys and “tasquinhas”, because there were various stables and establishments of this kind, donkey tours and traditional games.
