1.04.01 FM200 AUTOMATIC FLOODING SYSTEM.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

A. The system shall be a Total Flood FM-200 Suppression System for SERVER & UPS ROOM.

B. The system shall provide a FM-200 minimum design concentration of 7% , in all areas and/or protected spaces, at the minimum anticipated temperature within the protected area. System design shall not exceed 10.5% for normally occupied spaces, adjusted for maximum space temperature anticipated, with provisions for room evacuation before agent release.

C. The system shall be complete in all ways. It shall include all mechanical and electrical

installation, all detection and control equipment, agent storage containers, FM-200 agent, discharge nozzles, pipe and fittings, manual release and abort stations, audible and visual alarm devices, auxiliary devices and controls, shutdowns, alarm interface, caution/ advisory signs, functional checkout and testing, training and all other operations necessary for a functional, FM-200 Clean Agent Suppression System.

D. The system(s) shall be actuated by a photoelectric detectors installed for maximum area

coverage per detector, inboth the room, underfloor and above ceiling protected spaces. If the airflow is one air change per minute, photoelectric detectors only shall be installed for maximum area coverage per detector.

E. Detectors shall be Cross-Zoned detection requiring two detectors to be in alarm before

release.

F) After completion of the time-delay sequence, the FM-200 Clean Agent system

shall discharge and the following shall occur: a) Illuminate a "SYSTEM FIRED" lamp on the control panel face. b) Shutdown of all power to high-voltage equipment c) Energize a visual indicator(s) outside the hazard in which the discharge

occurred. G) The system shall be capable of being actuated by manual discharge devices

located at each hazard exit. Operation of a manual device shall duplicate the sequence description above except that the time delay and abort functions shall be bypassed. The manual discharge station shall be of the electrical actuation type and shall be supervised at the main control panel.

H) Systems shall be designed in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines. .

I ) Each container shall have a pressure gauge The pressure gauge shall be color coded to provide an easy, visual indication of container pressure.

J) Engineered discharge nozzles shall be provided within the manufacturer’s guidelines to distribute the FM-200 agent throughout the protected spaces.

K) At the time "As-Built" drawings and maintenance/operations manuals are submitted.

Design basis

Applicable Standard : NFPA 2001

Room temperature; considered : 21 Deg.C Minimum conc. of agent as per (NFPA) 2001 : 7.0% Max. Concentration of gas as per (NFPA) 2001 : 9.0% Flooding Factor : 0.5483 Kg/m3 System pressure : 25 Bar Min. pressure requirement at nozzle : Min. 6.034 Bar Discharge time : 10 Sec. (Maximum)

Cylinder Size : 80 Litre Minimum fill in cylinder : 38.5 Kg Maximum fill in cylinder : 84.5 Kg Nozzle coverage area 180 deg : 10.2M radius (maximum) 360 deg : 6.4M radius (maximum)

Extinguishing power Rapid fire knockdown within ten seconds The system will protect at low concentrations of extinguishant, between 7 and 9%, a design which ensures a rapid fire knockdown essential for personnel and property protection. This low concentration also means that over pressurisation of rooms and enclosures is restricted.

Personnel safety Safe in manned areas In determining a safe exposure level to any agent intended for use in occupied spaces, the potential of the agent to cause cardiac sensitization should be determined. FM-200 has been evaluated for this condition via test protocols approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency, and has been cleared for use in occupied areas at the normal design concentration. FM 200 has a low toxicity rating and is classified as: Safe for automatic operation in areas where staff are at work and that it has No observed adverse effect on humans at concentration of 9% (Systems are designed for lower concentrations than 9%)

No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL). The highest concentration at which no adverse toxicological or physiological effect has been observed.

Lowest Observable Adverse Effect Level (LOAEL). The lowest concentration at which an adverse physiological or toxicological effect has been observe Environmentally safe

Zero ozone depletion

1.05 AUTOMATIC FIRE ALARM SYSTEM

Fire alarm system is designed and installed as per NFPA -72 Major Equipment of the Fire alarm system is,

• Fire detection & alarm control panel

• Multi Sensor detectors / Heat detectors / Flame detectors.

• Field devices like modules.

• Manual pull stations (break glass type)

• Electronic Hooters.

• Conduits / wiring

• Coverage per Detector is considered approx. 50 sq.mts

• Manual call points and Hooters are provided at strategic locations.

a) CONVENTIONAL MULTI SENSOR DETECTOR

Multi sensor detector is designed for detection of visible smoke, concomitant with most of fires and rise of temperature. It enables very fast detection of fire at the beginning stage, when material starts burn, i.e. a long time before the moment when open flame appears.

Multi sensor detector is designed for working in rooms inside buildings, in which, under

normal conditions, no smoke, dust and condensing of steam is present. Due to self-compensation of environmental changes, the Multi sensor detector offers improved resistance for pressure and temperature changes.

The Multi Sensor Detector shall have UL/ FM approval.

b) CONVENTIONAL FLAME DETECTOR

The Detector has been Designed for internal use and is particularly suited to

installations where flame can be expected to develop initially rather than smoke due to the nature of combustible materials such as films, video , computer tapes and etc.,

The Flame Detector shall have UL/ FM approval.

MANUAL RELEASE (Electric) 1) The electric manual release switch shall be a dual action device which provides a

means of manually discharging the Suppression System when used in conjunction with the control system.

2) A Manual Release switch shall be located at each exit from the protected hazard.

The Manual Release Switch shall have UL/ FM approval.

ABORT STATION

1) The Abort Station shall be supervised and shall indicate a trouble condition at the

control panel, if depressed, and no alarm condition exists. 2) "Locking" or "Keyed" abort stations shall not be permitted.

The Abort Switch shall have UL/ FM approval.

AUDIBLE and VISUAL ALARMS

1) Alarm audible and visual signal devices shall operate from the control panel.

2) A Strobe device shall be placed outside & inside, each door from the

protected space. Provide an advisory sign at each light location

The Strobe / Hooter shall have UL/ FM approval.

CAUTION and ADVISORY SIGNS

Signs shall be provided to comply with NFPA 2001 and the recommendations of the FM- 200 equipment supplier.

1) Entrance sign: (1) required at entrance to a protected space. 2) Manual discharge sign: (1) required at each manual discharge station. 3) Flashing light sign: (2) required at each flashing light at Exit / Entry from a

protected space.

Automatic operation of protected area shall be as follows

1) Actuation of one (1) detector, within the system, shall: a) Illuminate the "ALARM" lamp on the control panel face. b) Energize an alarm bell and/or an optional visual indicator. c) Transfer auxiliary contacts which can perform auxiliary system functions

such as: i) Operate door holder/closures on access doors, ii) Transmit a signal to a fire alarm system, iii) OPTIONAL Shutdown HVAC equipment.

2) Actuation of a 2nd detector, within the system, shall:

a) Illuminate the "PRE-DISCHARGE" lamp on the control panel face. b) Energize a pre-discharge horn or horn/strobe device.

c) Shut down the HVAC system and/or close dampers (OPTIONAL). d) Start time-delay sequence (not to exceed 60 seconds). e) System abort sequence is enabled at this time.
