Take a look at this page in the story. Do you think it is a good idea for Goldilocks to be going it to house?

Key vocab to focus on: Forest- a large groups of treesBasket- a type of bag made out of a type of wood Nightgown- an old fashioned word for pyjamas that look like a dressWoodcutter- a person that cuts down trees

This is an online version to watch, if you would like to do so: https://www.education.com/game/goldilock-three-bears/

Literacy

Can you make a storytelling basket using small toys and items you have around the house. This is a brilliant way to help your child to remember and retell a story. In particular telling a traditional tale such as ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’.Looking for the items for your basket, it is a good way to spend some time discussing the story, characters and sequence of events in the story.

MathYesterday you sorted objects by size. This related to the Goldilocks and three bears story. To we would like you to make a large teddy bear picture, colour in and cut into five pieces. Then support you child to put the picture together in the correct order and talk the numbers and 1 is smaller than 2 and how the number get large by one each time. (A large copy of the teddy bear is at the end of todays’ learning.

Count with your child up to five today and practise with them writing numbers 1 – 5 and maybe beyond upto 10.

Expressive arts and designToday we are going to continue with making characters from the Goldilocks story.Get those paints and crayons out and make an interesting bear or goldilocks.See the pictures below for some inspiration.

Make some oatmeal playdough

You will need:

2 parts uncooked oats (2 cups) 1 part water (1 cup) 1 part flour (1 cup)

We made ours using 2 cups of oats, 1 cup of water and 1 cup of flour. This made a nice amount for one child but not that much

for three kids. I will double the recipe the next time we make it.Combine oats, water and flour.

Children will love the oatmeal scent.

This will keep in the refrigerator, though not as long as traditional cooked play dough. We have had ours for about a week and it is still good. Please discard if it starts to smell or look funny. This is good advice for many things in life.

Name practise – please also use this time to practise name writing with your child every day. You could follow some of the advice on

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swwxOB4MS-Y

Please do not get your child to write their full name in capitals only a capital at the beginning the rest lower case.

This week on your daily walk or from your garden can you collect some stones and other objects create your own name with different objects. You can practice spelling your child’s name with these like in the picture.
