Our proposalKenilworth Multi Academy Trust (KMAT) would like to relocate the current Kenilworth School at Leyes Lane and Sixth Form at Rouncil Lane to a new site with combined school and sixth form facilities.
The proposals are for a new, purpose built secondary school and sixth form offering improved teaching, learning and sports facilities at Southcrest Farm, Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth.
The new facility will provide:
• 2,200 places, increasing capacity to allow for an additional 400 students meeting the needs of a prospering community
• A Learning Resource Centre, dedicated sixth form facilities, drama and dance studios, and multiple halls and dining
• Purpose built, educational spaces giving each department a sense of identity
• External courtyards for both educational and recreational use
• Six new high-quality grass pitches and a new all-weather pitch
• A new athletics pitch and outdoor 400m athletics track
• Ample car parking spaces, dedicated drop-off zones, electric vehicle charging bays and covered, secure cycle stores
• Dedicated routes which support segregation of vehicles and pedestrians on site
Why this siteThe Warwick District Local Plan was adopted in 2017 and provides the policy and guidance for the District’s development up to 2029.
The Local Plan has allocated land at Southcrest Farm for a new school and sixth form. With new housing proposed in Kenilworth, the school requires additional capacity if it is to continue to provide for the educational needs of the town and the surrounding area.
