TRANSCRIPT
Configured for optimum performance
Floating dredge hoses are an important part of the discharge process. Attached to the pivot bend on a cutter suction dredger or the bow coupling on a trailing suction hopper dredger, they must be very flexible and robust for the most challenging of working environments and to match customers’ needs.
IHC offers an innovative range of professional and high-performance floating hoses for slurry transport to the shore. Depending on the environmental circumstances, a combination of several different discharge hoses and pipes are necessary for the discharge process. For optimum lifetime, customers can choose a specific wear layer thickness and hose type.
Floating dredge hoses can be combined with IHC’s wide range of floating pipelines, pipe floaters, ring floats, pontoons, etc.
IHC utilises a simulation programme that provides a dynamic analysis of the movements of the discharge line and calculates the required configurations. The results of these simulations dictate the specific arrangements to be made for each set of circumstances.
IHC’s floating dredge hoses are also exposed to a wide range of tests prior to delivery – to ensure the Royal IHC quality standard.
Benefits• extremely robust properties• customised configuration for all working conditions• dynamic analysis for specificly engineered solutions• proven Royal IHC quality.

Hose typesAll floating hoses are available in three executions, which are configured according to the soil type which is being processed:
• Integra typeStandard floating hose, which is made with a rubber wear liner. This is most suitable for discharging less abrasive materials, such as clay and silt.
• Armoured typeFloating hose with high-tensile forged steel rings for applications in rather abrasive slurries, such as sand and gravel.
• BoneCrusher® typeFloating hose for heavy cutter applications and highly abrasive material, such as rocks. The patented BoneRing® shape of the forged steel rings causes a weight reduction of 15-25% and prevent the rings from breaking out of the rubber lining.
Dimensions• outer diameter ≤2,200mm• ball passage 350-1,100mm• SG 1.2-2.3 t/m3
• length <11.8m (container size).
