& regional economic development groups

Southeast Region Objectives• Provide networking and professional development

opportunities for ORTAs through annual regional conference

• Continue a strong regional technology transfer awards and recognition program

• Strengthen support of technology transfer by laboratory management & scientists through an educational outreach publication

• Regional conference: Jacksonville, FL, Jan. 21-23, 2008• Theme: “Meeting the needs of First Responders through Federal laboratory technology resources”

• Approximately 45 attendees/participants

• Highlighted presentations included• Patent attorney panel review of new developments in IP law• Examples of successfully transferred technology to aid first responders• Address from Craig Fugate, now FEMA director• Address from Tad Agoglia, 2008 CNN Top Ten American Hero• Technology needs defined by FEMA, HAZnet, DHS, and others

• Networking event: Tour of historic St. Augustine and dinner
