When built in 1903, it was the largest stone bridge. It passes high above the Pétrusse River, one of the two main gorges in the city. It is named for Grand Duke Adolphe, the first independent ruler of Luxembourg from 1890-1905. 2) Anno tate d plan: Red = our home. Pink = Adolphe Bridge and Golden Lady. Blue = City Hall and Palace. Green = Umbrella, band and sheep statue. Orange = Ship playground. 3) Pon t Adolp he, wi th the Sp uerk eess bui ldin g in the background. The Spuerkeess is the national bank, and this is probably the most recognizable view in the city. 4) The “wa ll” par tly cons ists of t he remn ants of t he hug e fortresses throughout the city.
