window- and wall coverings. It is the only market place in the world to feature

producers who fully own their collections. MoOD is flanked by MoOD Yarns & Indigo.

MoOD believes in a gradual reindustrialisation of Europe. Bringing industry back to

Europe is not just possible, it’s necessary. Textile has everything it needs to be the first

to flourish again, provided it is carried along by ground-breaking innovations. MoOD

wants to play a role in this, by giving exhibitors a platform and showing visitors the way

to innovative textiles.

In 2004 MoOD started the first innovation platform in the world where flexible

creations for the interior were displayed. Today, MoOD has taken the next step. By

choosing innovations as the theme of the trade show we are opening the doors to a

new range that small initiatives and startups will be happy to call their own in the

future. Many ground-breaking innovations are incubated and grow with small starters.

They are the entrepreneurs of the future.

Focus on Innovation at MoOD

EVEN CHANGE IS CHANGINGFluxus art involved the viewer, relying on theelement of chance to shape the ultimate outcomeof the piece. The use of chance was alsoemployed by Dada, Marcel Duchamp, and otherperformance art of the time, such as Happenings.Fluxus artists were most heavily influenced by theideas of John Cage, who believed that one shouldembark on a piece without having a conception ofthe eventual end. It was the process of creatingthat was important, not the finished product.

The MoOD inspiration book was given thename Fluxus because of the metaphoricresemblance to our current times. Today's world, with its seven billion inhabitants, also stands onthe verge of big and essential changes. Thepurifying flow, which literally flushes the oldeconomic mind-set, is merely one signal thechange is actually started. We currently findourselves in a transitional space, which willdetermine the future of the textile industry.

then invited to join us at Kronospan'sannual Design Forum to define themost on-trend concepts for produc-tion. The result is Fresh.”

The décors are influenced by honestand natural materials to give designersthe freedom to refresh belovedtraditional trends. For example, thecontemporary mix of Fresh décors,Trojan Oak (D6672) and Swiss Elm

Dark (D6597), can update the eclecticromance of Bohemian Kitsch.

The saw blade texture of SonomaOak (D8197) and Santana Oak(D6602) soften the raw contrasts ofIndustrialism.

A combinat ion of R i jeka Oak(D5502) and the uni-colour LemonSorbet (U7123) draw dramat icl ines through the low-key chic ofVisionnaire.

While the deep and timeless appealof Sentiment is lovingly reinvigoratedby the natural tones and grains ofSwiss Elm Natural (D5500) andWyoming Maple (D5504).

There are boundless opportunitiesfor introducing a modern twist onKronospan’s current craving for good-time nostalgia. What is more, eachdécor has harmonising NCS, RAL andPantone matches. For more informa-tion, simply visit www.kronospan.co.uk

Laminate Monochrom Noir in Alliage texture

solid to the core

Goodbye brown lines! Polyrey's brand newMonochrom range of through-colour laminateswith a black or white core will guarantee aneasy to achieve and stylish edge detail for laminated products.

It's hello style and goodbye brown lines on edges whenlaminating products thanks to Polyrey's brand newMonochrom range. The company has developed a 1.2mm

thick laminate available with a solid core of colour rightthrough in a choice of five textures in either black or white.

Polyrey's best-selling plain plain colours of Noir N005NNand Blanc Megève B070NB are now available with a solidblack and white core respectively in a thicker than averagelaminate of 1.2mm. A choice of five textures reflects the verylatest design trends. Says Patricia Rahmé, marketing man-ager, “Black and white laminates represent by far the mainmarket usage and our five surface textures lift them to a newdimension by adding a visual and tactile layer.”

There are two brand new textures of Alliage and Roche, together with the popular textures of Epimat raised grain,BriHG high gloss and standard FA, all of which enhance thedesign aesthetic of the laminate. Alliage texture builds onthe strong trend for pearlescence but in a very subtle design-orientated way. It features very fine vertical lines which givethe impression of brushed metallic finish and looks superbon plain black or white laminates giving them an under-stated luxury. Roche salutes the strong trend for naturalstone. It centres on the look and feel of honed slate with awarm feeling, low reflective matt surface.

The two Monochrom laminates come in standard gradeand a sheet size of 3070 x 1320mm. The 1.2mm thick ishighly resistant to scratches, abrasion, impact and stainingand maintains a pristine visual appearance, even in the eventof deep scratching, due to its solid colour.

A new Monochrom binder is available. Call Polyrey on01923 202700, email [email protected] or log on atwww.polyrey.com

HIF Finesse by VD Werkstätten is noordinary panel product. Made bypressing layered veneers onto ply

or MDF at temperatures of up to 160oCwith more than 1300 kilos per squaremetre of pressure, the rich surfacetexture of Ocean, Mosaik, Sisal, Wave,Spalt and Split - the five options nowstocked by James Latham - cries out tobe touched. Finesse possesses depth torival that of sea-worn pier timbers andmediaeval wood-framed houses, thoughits uses have included contemporarybars, shopfitting, modesty panels onswish office desks, feature panels in thefoyers of grand hotels and fascias for up-to-the-minute kitchens and bedrooms.

“Although we use oak, walnut andlacquerable white foils for some of ourproducts, many of our panels are madewith Alpi man-made veneers,” commentsVDW’s sales manager, Joachim Pahmeyer.“The deep structure begins with twosheets on the face side and two as abalancer. For the deeper pressings, such asBorke (a development of Spalt), we useseven sheets of veneer. Our standardproduct comes in two sizes, 3100 x1300mm and 2450 x 1050, and thick-nesses of 18.5 or 21mm. Almost all our

products are available in horizontal andvertical grain and both options can beedgebanded easily. Often, designerschoose a plywood substrate which doesn’tneed an edgebanding. It looks good if youchamfer the edge of the veneer.”

In addition to veneer-finishedboards, some paper and pvc foilfinishes - including laminated andlacquered versions - are available onspecial order. Bubble, for example, uses a melamine-based, laquered foiland can be supplied matt or gloss, asrequired. Pluto is surfaced with hand-finished metal and sits right at the topof a range which extends to more than20 current standard products and10-12 older structures.

VDW also offers ready-made, cut-to-size components, including curveddoors and modesty panels. By usinghoneycomb panels for larger compo-nents, the weight can also be reducedby as much as half. “If the volume isthere,” adds Joachim, “We will evenmake a special tool to create the exactfinish required by the customer.”

When Decorative Panels com-missioned Cades to designand install an extraction

system for its new 175,000 square footfactory, Steve Rhodes, MD at Bradford-based Cades, knew it would be a chal-lenging project. “They wanted anextraction system that would run 24/7,would give the best energy savingspossible and would be as automatic aspossible,” he recalls. “And they wantedto be able to start production in onepart the factory whilst installation of thesystem was being completed in an-other.” Remarkably, the first part of thesystem was ready for work as the firstmachine was installed back in February.Since then, more than 1,500 metres ofducting has been fitted and connectedto a system which is capable of ex-tracting 300,000 cubic metres per hour.

“We supplied two Moldow MHL filterswhich run 24/7,” explains Steve. “It's avery robust, galvanised constructioncarriage cleaning system with negativepressure filter, so the fans are on the cleanside. No woodwaste goes through thefans, so they don't wear so much and it'spossible to use a more energy efficientfan. There are three fans per filter, all

inverter driven, three of 75kW and threeof 90kW on the bigger filter. There's anautomatic trailer feed system from eachfilter which takes the waste from the filterto the trailer.” The system uses a reverseblow fan for cleaning. “It’s more energyefficient than compressed air cleaning,”says Steve. A Minimax fire system, whichDecorative Panels ordered directly, hasalso been installed and the installation hasbeen designed so it can be linked to aburner system without major alteration.

From the filter, there are 16 indepen-dent ducting runs serving individual ma-chines to give better control over energysaving. “Basically, on start of a machine, the extraction system starts up automati-cally,” explains Steve. “The MoldowEnergy Manager detects signals from allmachines, opens the appropriate damperand sets the fans going. The fans rampup to the volume required for each par-ticular machine. They only use enoughair volume for the machines they are run-ning. As the machines are switched off,or product stops feeding, the dampersclose and the fans ramp down. That alsobrings a significant noise benefit.”

At the end of every shift, the MoldowEnergy Manager sends an email to the

production manager which providesinformation on how much power hasbeen consumed, how long the machineshave been running, the status of thefilter bags, etc. Operators don't have todo anything - the system automaticallystarts, stops and reports. “Getting theMoldow Energy Manager system towork with Decorative Panels’ productionwas the trickiest part of the installation,”recalls Steve. “It can be tailored to suitindividual needs so it has to be tuned. Now it’s up and running, it can be inter-rogated remotely from anywhere.”

Cades: 0845 838 6166.

As perfect as the diapasons which front any cathedralorgan, the ducting at Decorative Panels’ new 175,000square foot factory in Elland is only part of a prestigiousextraction and filter installation by Cades.

The Moldow Energy Manager controls the entiresystem, starting up as machines begin working andshutting down when the last one is switched off.

This is the year in which the eyesof the world will focus on Britain.Athletes from the farthest corners

of the globe will converge on Londonand the news will be filled withOlympian achievements: gold medals, silver medals, bronze medals; record-breaking performances; races won by ahair’s breadth. But long before theOlympic torch landed on British soil, acontender from Britain’s Tundra regionwas already racing hard towards afinishing line of its own. An uphill teamhurdle event to rival anything thesummer might bring was under way -and there were medals aplenty forinternational contenders from as farafield as Italy, Denmark and Germany. Not to mention Huddersfield.

In this race towards the 22nd June2012, milestones have been reached, records broken and transformationsmade which prove beyond any shadowof doubt that Decorative Panels Group isone of Britain’s best; a true gold medal-list - but a gold medallist whose win in2012 is a win for its customers, too.

What began over 100 years ago as alocal cabinet and coffin-makingbusiness has grown to an internationalsuccess story with £100million turnoverand 350 employees. And with its new,state-of-the-art components factorynow fully equipped and producing, thestory only begins with the breaking ofthe ribbon.

“What we’re doing has benefits forcustomers large and small,” says GroupManaging Director, Guy Metcalfe.“We’ve always been a flexible supplier. With our new components facility,we’re able to be even more flexible. Thenew factory brings security of supplyand, for our larger customers, it shows acommitment from us to supportingtheir growth.

“We’ve always been a volumeproducer and that remains - in fact,we’ve doubled our production capacity- but, for our smaller customers, we’ll bedeveloping more stock ranges as wesettle in. We may look at introducingour own stock range available on imme-diate delivery for smaller customers.”

It’s an Olympic year and the eyes of the world are on Britain. Butsome are focusing a little further north than London...

The vast array of equipment in thenew factory means Decorative Panelscan offer processing of melamine, PVCand ABS edgebands; direct post-forming; sawing and edgebandingwork with lightweight panels of up to60mm in thickness; high speed, throughfeed drilling, complementedwith point-to-point for complex be-spoke panels; sawing of panels as thinas 2mm; routing, shaping, and soforth. “We can manufacture a full spec-trum of panel types, boxing as well ifrequired,” adds Guy. “The packing linewas commissioned on 21st June.”

Prior to commissioning of the newfactory, Decorative Panels Groupalways drew a clear line between itscomponents business and its furniturebusiness: if the product was palletised,it was a component; if it was boxed, itwas furniture. In the new site, the fullyautomated packing line is of the samespecification as that used in the furni-ture factory, so the components fac-tory can support Decorative Panels’furniture factory. “But,” says Guy, “Italso means we can get back into prod-ucts such as decorative shelving as wellas being able to supply our customerswith boxed items. We can also supplyfascias and other components throughthe components factory.”

It’s been a long, hard journey, strip-ping out and refurbishing, planning andequipping the new 175,000 square footfactory in Elland and the gold medalthey claimed at the grand opening on

22nd June 2012 was richly deserved. But long before the Decorative Panelsteam took its places on the podium (tojubilant fanfares from the massed bandsof the Calder Valley), Decorative PanelsGroup and the team that made it allpossible was already clutching silver andbronze. The first machines to beinstalled were producing as far back asFebruary 2012, way before the mainlines were anywhere close to comple-tion. And by late April, the factory wasup to 75% production.

So, with the ribbon cut and thegold medal gleaming in the cabinet, what does the future hold for Decora-tive Panels Group?

“We have a business which startswith sheet materials and we servicemany industries,” says Guy Metcalfe.“A component is simply a sheet we’veput a sawblade through. We have a100 per cent flatpack furniture busi-ness; we produce only high volumeflatpack and that side of our business isgrowing. We’re also enjoying goodexport success, especially with our lam-ination business. The future is on allthose fronts. We have some excitingdevelopments coming up on the lami-nation front which will come to fruitionnext year. We’re also putting a lot intoour new marketing suite and the planswe have for that are mind-blowing.The future is potentially very exciting.”

The Mawera at BA Components’ Doncaster site (formerly BLP) gives no problems, according to MDBrian McCracken. Shoehorned into the tightestspace imaginable, it was a turnkey project includingfactory heating, process and office heating.

FURNITURE JOURNAL JULY 2012 • 29

As the pace of change increasesyear on year, how many compa-nies would have the confidence

to talk about an installation they carriedout half a decade ago? Mawera has.And John Clissett, Mawera UK's MD, isconfident that the equipment they sup-plied to BLP in Doncaster (which wasacquired by BA Components a coupleof years ago), will be working just asefficiently in another ten or fifteen years.

“When it was installed at BLP, it wasthe intention to burn 100-120 tonnesof MDF waste a week,” recalls John.“The existing equipment had come tothe end of its useful life. We replaced itwith an FR3500, 3500kW boiler.Though regulations have changed, itstill conforms with the emission require-ments and heats the complete factory. It was a turnkey project includingfactory heating, process and officeheating, the complete installation ofthe boiler and emissions equipment, together with planning informationand calculation. We supplied every-thing from the feed system for theFR3500 to the dust abatement system

which cleans up the emissions prior todischarge. We’ve 30 years of experi-ence of this kind of project in the UK.”

The quality of the engineering inMawera boilers, says John, is very high. They are designed to work and go onworking without problems - and in thelight of new developments, that’scritical. Mawera has four differenttypes of equipment to suit anythingfrom a sawmill to an MDF factory - butoffering the right kind of equipment isonly part of the story. Keeping abreastof the ever-changing regulations is thebig challenge. By knowing the system,Mawera could help you to acquire anew, modern factory heating systemwhich could provide you with anincome from your waste materials.

“The regulations changed inFebruary,” explains John. “The govern-ment is pushing hard for utilisation ofrecycled materials and renewableenergy. Woodwaste is a big contender. The RHI - Renewable Heat Incentive -means you get paid for making greenenergy from burning a biomassproduct like wood. It's a unique system

which applies only in England, Scot-land and Wales. The government paysyou for each kilowatt you produce. Anyboiler installed after July 2009 canqualify for the feeding tariff and that’sa huge incentive to install a new plant. As the incentive runs for 20 years andit's allocated to a particular installation, you need a piece of equipment whichwill last and perform for that 20 yearperiod.” Buy a boiler that’s designed tolast and you'll probably get the moneyfrom the heat meter back in ten years,John calculates. “Each area and eachzone has to be individually tracked,”he says, “Therefore, it's a theoreticalcalculation, but I'd expect it to be paidback twice in 20 years. There aredifferent tariff levels for different sizesof boiler, so the bigger the boiler, thelower the tariff.”

So how does it work?“Buy, install and commission your

boiler, get an independent consultantreport, then make the application toOFGEM,” says John. “OFGEM is con-trolling the application for RHI.”

For more details call 01543 258844.

For the next 20 years, you could get paid for making green energy through the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive -but the RHI applies to the boiler, so you needto make sure it will last for 20 years.

At 2,600kW, BeModern’s Mawera is one of the largest boilers currently operating in the furniture sector - and BeModern has already applied for a Renewable Heat Incentive.

Exceptional savings arethe result of installing an

Ecogate® on-demandextraction optimisation

system from DCS.

Dust Control Systems Ltd reportsthat Ecogate®, its extractionoptimisation system has been a

huge success since its launch at W10,just 18 months ago. Since then, DCShas installed 33 energy-saving Ecogate®

systems for companies ranging fromjoinery shops, with a few woodworkingmachines, to a large kitchenmanufacturer producing over 12,000kitchen units per week. Remarkably, when added up, a total annual savingof 3,776 Megawatt hours will beachieved which, at today's rate ofaround 8p per kW hour, amounts tomassive savings of over £300,000.

It's alarming to think that, in mostworkshops, extraction fans are likely tobe burning more electricity than all thelighting and machinery put together.Typically, only half of all machines couldbe operating at any given time but dustextraction may be running all the time,to all machines. The Ecogate® comput-erised optimisation system provides ex-traction on demand volumes, onlywhen needed. This is achieved by auto-matically closing ports to non-operating

machines and regulating the speed ofthe extraction fan accordingly. Withpayback periods of less than two years, and the cost of most installations quali-fying for Green Equipment Financethrough Siemens (SFS Ltd) and backedby a Carbon Trust assessment, theEcogate® System is a cost-effective,energy-saving upgrade for existing dustor fume extraction systems.

Ecogate® technology perfectly com-plements Dust Control Systems' capa-bility as extraction specialists. Expertiseextends from small mobile filters tocomplete 'woodwaste-to-energy sys-tems' and includes site evaluation, system design, supply, installation andcommissioning. The addition of Schukoequipment to DCS’s product mix hasfurther strengthened its position. As wellas a proven modular filter range that of-fers a variety of cleaning and dischargemechanisms DCS can also now supply achoice of mobile dust extractors, sanding tables, briquetting presses and arange of waste wood shredders.

When the Redditch-basedWensley Group needed a newextraction system for their

factory, they chose Air Plants DustExtraction Ltd to install a new low-energy system together with a biomassboiler for factory heating.

The Air Plants scheme included aself-cleaning Transair filter, which hasbeen specifically designed to present avery low resistance to incoming airwhen combined with high efficiencycentrifugal fans and low noise. Thepackage, says Air Plants, represents“real savings in running costs overconventional equipment and givesexceptional reliability with theminimum of service requirement.”

In addition to woodwaste from CNCmachinery, Wensley needed to addressthe problem associated with the dustfrom hand-sanding with orbital sanders.Such comparatively minute particles re-spresent a severe health hazard, soWensley was especially keen to see that

Air Plants included an appropriatemeans of extracting these at source. Asthe main UK dealer for the Rupes HivacSystem, Air Plants found a solution withthe HE900 turbine, together with a ringmain to serve all the work benches. Theoperator simply plugs the orbital sanderinto the high pressure ring main, extracting directly through the sanderas the dust is created. The HE900 isfitted with a two-stage separation filterwith automatic filter cleaning by reversejet pulse.

As part of the package, Air Plantsalso supplied an Untha LR1000shredder to reduce solid waste andtransfer it to the combustion systemvia the extraction system. Combinedwith an efficient and efffective dustcontrol system, the Untha LR1000offers savings on landfill and makes apositive contribution towardsattracting RHI payments.

In addition to extraction and shred-ding, a Talbott C Range biomass boiler

was installed. Acccording to Air Plants, the Talbott C Range “incorporates someof the most advanced combustioncontrol techniques to ensure longevityof product as well as meeting stringentemissions standards”. With this unit,Wensley should be able to apply for theRenewable Heat Incentive ‘feed-in’ tariffwhich pays dividends to companies thatinvest in green technology.

For more details call Air Plants on0116 283 3581.

Air Plants’ installation forWensley Group included fullextraction for CNCs, aRupes Hivac system to dealwith fine dust, an UnthaLR1000 shredder and a Talbott C Range boiler.

With the motto “The leader inproduction processes”, theSCM Group aimed to demon-

strate its vocation as a supplier ofcomplete, turnkey systems at this year’sTechnodomus. With a series of interac-tive tools, 3D renderings, films andpersonal accounts, SCM presented itsexperiences and its most powerful andflexible technical solutions - a clear andexplicit presentation of the Group'sdetermination to create the “ideal fac-tory” for any type of finished productthrough continuous innovation.

On a giant stand, the innovative 6-axis interpolating technology in thebrand new Routech Oikos CNC Ma-chining Centre, the signature of the SCMGroup's campaign for Technodomus, included the addition of a 6th axis to theusual 5 axes, providing “perfection in theproduction of wooden beams”. The soft-ware was unique and designed in house.

Also shown was the 5-axis AuthorM800 CNC Machining Centre fromMorbidelli, a powerful and flexiblemachine for the furniture industry, equipped with up to 70 tools and adrilling head with 57 independent spin-dles. It has a completely new gantrytype structure, redesigned to eliminatevibration completely and guarantee anextremely high quality finish. TheAuthor M800 is now equipped toperform heavy-duty machining.

Meanwhile, the Author M800features high production efficiencyachieved with 2 electro-spindles, one ofwhich is moved by 5 controlled andinterpolating axes. A wide range ofworktables is available with useful workareas up to 6360 x 1905mm.

The new Stefani Evolution S Double-Sided edgebanding machine is believedto be the first industrial model on themarket to provide a panel squaring

function for smaller dimensions. Evolu-tion S perfectly combines technologyfor the medium to high sector of themarket with reduced dimension work-pieces. It’s much the same cost as anaverage single-sided edgebander.

Also launched at Technodomus wasthe new SCM Profiset Automatic PlanerMoulder. Profiset 40 offers compactnessand ergonomics and comes equippedwith an idle roller in the outfeed table toguarantee effective feed and animproved finish, independent dusthoods, infeed table adjustment abovethe table and a new NC with feed speedcontrol. The electronic version providesa single push-button for sequentialautomatic starting of the motors, auto-matic management of the workingsections and feed speed control.

The Profiset 60 version sports a newfeed system, using Cardan joints and agearbox with a 3kW motor. Higher

productivity and even better finishesare the result.

SCM proudly presented the new Ver-ticut 60, “the vertical panel saw fordynamic, developed panel cuttingrequirements”. For those seeking a ver-satile machine, capable of operating in alimited floor space, the Verticut design, developed by SCM, was based on thedesire to make the production processexceptionally simple in any situation. The designers were driven to focus onan unusual market sector, smartlycombining sturdiness and smoothnessso this machine now rivals other manu-facturers’ models. The Verticut 60 isavailable in two versions, one manualand one automatic with continuousaction, and provides working dimen-sions of 4300mm for horizontal widthcutting and 2080mm height cutting. Both versions benefit from the 2200mmvertical cutting height with a working

thickness of 60mm to meet the mostdiverse machining needs. Sturdy andwith the performance of much largermachines, this saw suits practically allcutting requirements.

New software, called Professor Pappa-gallo, made its debut in Rimini, giving arepresentation of what will be the newrelationship which (according to theSCM Group) must exist between tech-nology and the end user. It’s based on

maximum simplicity. This special soft-ware lets anyone execute a machiningprogram, even those without specificknowledge of CNC programming. Justfollow the Professor's instructions to beat ease when machining a panel or diag-nosing a problem. He’s a competentwork partner, supporting the operator24 hours a day, 365 days a year!

Despite some initialreservations about

exhibiting at Xylexpo,Homag returned from

Milan pleasantly surprised.

By their own admission the HomagGroup went to Xylexpo withsuppressed expectations. Difficult

economic times in Italy and thecontroversy surrounding trade fairlocations gave the company pause forthought. In the end, they came awayfrom Milan pleasantly surprised - despitethe fact that Italian woodworkingcompanies were the ones driving thedebate surrounding the trade fairlocation and the general feeling ofeconomic dissatisfaction currentlyprevailing in Italy.

Although the proportion ofinternational visitors was down, thecompany secured two major orders fromItaly. A major Italian kitchenmanufacturer placed an order for aHomag Batch Size 1 plant foredgebanding with recirculation plus adividing centre from Weeks. A key Italiansupply company invested in a Holzmasawing plant and a pre-coating plantusing the Homag reacTec method.

Visitors to the Homag City standwere able to see how the companynetworks and integrated individualcomponents into a single super efficientsystem. On show was a complete BatchSize 12 plant and everything forwoodworkers small and large from asawing/nesting/storage combinationthrough to ultra modern packagingtechnology. The stand demonstrated thegreat advantages in being able to sourcea complete high tech plant and all thenecessary back up from a single supplier.

Other highlights were the laserTecmethod and the surface compliancecentre - another example of Homagsupplying everything from a singlesource.

As part of the Homag Cares initiative, the company presented a cheque for2,600 Euros to Solaris, a charity thathelps mentally and physically less ablechildren in the Brianza region.

Waste It, Save It Ltd has bought a top of the range Gross shredder from Gross UK to recycle wastewood into animal bedding. Company Directors Derrick Winspear and Tony Backhouse purchased theGAZ102 37kW shredder to convert wood waste into bedding for horses, rabbits, chickens etc.

After an internet search they contacted Kurt Cockcroft at Gross UK who helped them choose theright machine. The machine was installed by Gross and was soon up and running. Waste It, Save Itreceives wood free of charge from skip companies, it is hand sorted to remove MDF then shreddedbefore being screened for metal particles and filtered to remove lingering dust. “I do not understandwhy wood companies continue to pay to have their wood removed when they can cost effectively

shred it to turn into briquettes for sale or caneven burn it to save money on heating,” saysTony Backhouse.

The company currently produces about 150bags of bedding a week and plans to expand toaround 600 plus a week. Next on the want listare an automatic tagging machine and a Grossbriquette press.01785 250400www.grossuk.co.ukwww.woodwastetechnology.com
