Friends,It has been a wonderful joy to have our Amazing Grace Trombley back on the organ and directing the choir! And to have so many of our friends returning from warmer climates to join us in worship!

A joy in my family is that our dog Zoey is finally healthy and can run freely at the dog park! She has months of pent up energy to expend and runs like the wind.

June is a busy month in the church, and in theschools as finals and regent exams happen aswell as grade promotions and graduations. Here at FUMC we start with the Champlain Chorale Concert on June 2nd as we celebrate Ascension Sunday. That same week Judy Gourley and I will be participating in Annual Conference in Syracuse. Then on Sunday the 9th we will be celebrating Pentecost, the birthday of the Christian Church, when the Holy Spirit anointed the original disciples and they spilled into the streets of Jerusalem sharing Jesus’ love in powerful ways that brought thousands of new believers into the family of faith. We will also be celebrating our new confirmands claiming their faith and joining the church during the 10:30 service!

Make sure you balance your engagement with the many great activities in our community with quiet time spent with God being restored in body, mind, and spirit. I love to do this outdoors enjoying the beauty of flowers and nature. Here’s an iris I photographed the day I wrote this.

Now That’s A Bright IdeaThere are lots of things going on in June. The Champaign Valley Chorale the first week-end and the community dinner the second. Girl Scouts have a tea scheduled and the Salvation Army has a “Kettle” meeting on the 13th and we host the Bikers, (peddle power not Harley’s) overnight on the 18th. While your church is busy, your trustees await the start of the addition and water proofing of the basement walls.

Additional security is now in place in the form of motion activated cameras and additional lock protection on the lower level.

We are still researching adding video to the worship services. I will pass along any updates I get from Pastor Scott as I get them.

As always if you see something that needs attention, contact Donnie, Pastor Scott or myself and we’ll do our best to “get ‘r’ done” or at least put it on the list!

Bill Westervelt, Chair

Missions Committee welcomed the

Life Changes and Transitions Workshop

in May.

The Sexton’s Broom

Hello Everyone! Spring cleaning around the church continues, as do the preparations for the addition in July. My fight with pollen & mud goes on!!

The grass is nice and green, thanks to all of the rain. Nate’s Lawn crew has mowed a couple of times already, which leads to my OTHER favorite things, grass clippings!!! It’s a never ending battle, but as I like to say, “Job security!”

The flowers on the Altar are lovely to look at, even if I can’t tell one from another- and I grew up next door to a florist! I can tell when Sandy Sprague brings apple blossoms, as they leave a nice little trail. . . Kind of like Hansel & Gretel.

As always, if you see something that requires my attention, pleas let me know. I’m not hard to find.

The Chancel Choir will rehearse at 10:00 on Sundays for a few weeks.

Start thinking about sharing Special Music over the summer.

Christmas in July Saturday July 20 from 9 to 2.

Sale areas will include Christmas décor, gifts galore, crafts, small furniture, fabric and yarn, the thrift shop, books (but NOT textbooks or encyclopedias, please), and a bake sale plus a hot dog stand for lunch.

We anticipate some outdoor sale locations as well as a wide variety of goods inside Fellowship Hall. (Remember how hot it was last year?)

For this to be a financial success we need your donations. Small or medium size items may be left on the stage starting in June. Larger items will be accepted in July.

Please think of Christmas in July as you sort the material goods of your home. This is a fund raiser for the church.

Thank you.

Supplies for Honduras Mission

For several years now I have placed a box in the entry of the church for supplies that the NY/Vt Nurses have been taking to Honduras. I usually do this close to my trip which is in March So the box is only there in the winter. This year it occurred to me (Actually I had an epiphany on Epiphany Sunday) that if I just left the box there all year I could get donations from all of the summer folks too! So even though our dear sextant (who shall remain nameless) seems to have been over zealous and removed it, I will be putting another box there very soon for anyone to add to at their leisure.

Our mission is a medical one, but we now buy the meds we give out in the country so we don’t have to transport them. During our mission we give out hygiene packs, to the 1000+ people we see. We make adult, children and baby packs. We take these in quart sized ziplock bags because we can only carry so much stuff in out luggage. So this is why I am asking for smaller items in most cases even though it seems very economical to give larger sizes of stuff. Here is a list of supplies that are needed. there will also be a list on the box. Hotel amenities are a good size. We also have a vision clinic too so we can use old glasses and reading glasses such as dollar store ones. Thanks so much.

Thrift Shop NewsWarm weather is on the horizon (really!!) – and we have many colorful summer items in the shop to choose from. Capris, shorts, bathing suits and summer dresses are available. Come in and browse around; you never know what you’ll find!

Welcome back Laurie Ward – we look forward to seeing you in the shop soon!

We need people to help sort on Mondays and/or Thursdays, between 9 and noon. Please let us know if you can help – even an hour to fold, straighten up, or put out new clothing would be a BIG help. Our volunteers have fun while providing a wonderful service to the community and our church (plus, we always enjoy a break with a tasty snack)!

Volunteer Recognition Luncheon Our annual Volunteer Recognition

Luncheon was Saturday, June 1, at the Hot Biscuit. In 2018, thirty volunteers

donated 4,380.5 hours to the Thrift Shop, both on Shopping and Sorting days.

What a great group to celebrate!Thank you to all of our volunteers!

We have received many, many donations lately, and are a bit overwhelmed.

Please do NOT donate clothing until June 26.Thank you!

ADDITION CONNECTION

I understand from Joe Vilardo that the drawings for the addition are in process.

In talking to Betty the other day, she is going to start removing plants from around the foundation after they bloom. She said she plans to transfer them to the area of the community garden for safe keeping till the work is completed. (She can always use some help, hint, hint…)

I should have addition information after I get to look at the final construction drawing. If you have any questions let me know and I’ll try to answer them, or get you the information.

We still are on track for an end of July start. I’ll try to keep everyone up to date as things happen.

The Ticonderoga Food Pantry

Thank you all for your continued support of the Ticonderoga Food

Pantry.

Hours of operation: Monday, Wednesday, Friday:

11am-Noon.

Please be aware that filling a basket takes time, so don’t arrive at the last minute. Anyone seeking a food basket should bring a utility bill as proof of residency.

The Food Pantry welcomes egg cartons, as we have a local person

with hens!

We enjoyed the excess veggies from people's gardens last summer and

would be VERY pleased to receive them again, when someone has too

many squash, or anything else they'd care to share.

Sunday School NewsFollowing the Advent Season, lessons focused on the teachings of Jesus, the parables, and how He wants us to live our lives  Crafts involved planting seeds of Faith, sand painting gardens and seashell crosses.  to make the Bible stories come alive, there have been guest acting presentations by Kerry and Alex Finland.  The week after Easter, Kerry appeared in complete costume ads Mary Magdalene, as she visited the empty tomb (made of papier maché with a lit interior!).  Alex starred in the role of Jesus.  The following week, Ale returned as Peter to tell his story of Faith.  We are blessed to have such wonderful talent within our church family, and I am grateful for their willingness to participate in the Sunday School program.

We have had an exciting year learning about the Bible, and will begin to wind things down with our last week of Sunday School being June 16.

Sunday School Certificates of Appreciation will be presented during the 8:30 service on June 23.

Yours in Faith,

Marsha LaPointe
