DAY 1: Common Core Fine Motor Centers and Multi-sensory Intervention for Pre-Writing and Writing

AFTER LUNCH - MULTI-SENSORY HANDWRITING Learning to Write in SchoolNeurotypical Development versus what is expected in school? A quick review of graphomotor development at different age levels versus what students are expected to do in school. WHY we have so many problems in handwriting – even with neurotypical students!

Bring: Make and Take Items (be creative)- you will divide into teams of 4 so bring enough for 4 people to have a few items to share - either look in your kitchen or craft closet, or look at dollar stores. Bring your junk! We will ship some mystery items to make this fun!

Bring: your own box of Ziploc baggies , scissors, markers, crayons, glue, and a small box to carry things home!

Bring enough to share of SOME of the items below (just a good amount of a few items on the list is fine!): Marbles, superballs, blocks,beans, pasta, beads, plastic jewels, foamies, sponges, dish sponges, small plastic toys or novelty items, golf-tees, plastic sticks, popcycle sticks, animal beads, shapes, wooden pieces, erasers, counters, any small manipulatives that you want to get rid of or donate!

Facility should order a One Hour to Legibility Kit for each participant ($30 per person - please contact our workshop coordinator 10 days prior to the workshop with projected order so that kits can be mailed in one shipment, and available at registration for this workshop from 3:15 - 3:30 pm on the day of the workshop.

Facility will also be responsible for transportation of speaker to and from workshop from Dallas, hotel (facility to book or give suggested list of hotels), transpotation from airport to and from hotel, shipping fees for workshop materials/labs, copying all handouts and distributing to workshop, distributing contact hour certificates,

***Speaker will need entrance into workshop site at 6:30 am to set up for the day(All workshops have labs, set-up)

***Facility will need to have adequate space for labs - generally a lecture area, and a room with tables the same size or larger for labs for each day of the workshop. Our staff can give suggested room sizes, etc.

Workshop Coordinator: Tammy Tibbals Email: [email protected] Business Phone: 972 814 - 1296 Tammy will be in charge of shipping boxes to facility coordinating invoices, coordinating products.

Shipping: One to four lab boxes per workshop - shipped ground roundtrip. The Handwriting Clinic will submit a final invoice that includes shipping round trip.

Invoice: Speakers fee is payable at the end of the workshop. An invoice for airline, hotel, transportation, shipping, products, etc will be sent within one week of the workshop and payment is due within 30 days.

Hotel: Close to inservice site. The Handwriting Clinic can make reservations upon the facility’s recommendations, or the facility can set up a hotel reservation.

Copying Cost for handouts/materials – 1. Total pages for handouts (several) usually run approximately 60 pages. 2. The Handwriting Clinic will get Discount School Supply to send prizes, catalogs for inservice if possible. They send free paint for prizes.

Audiovisual Needs: Mic (wireless usually best) Screen Power cord and extension cord from plug to speaker area 6 foot speaker table Infocus (or I can bring my own for $50)

Room Set up: This can vary - can even use a separate room for optional lab set up. The Handwriting Clinic can email charts attached for general room set ups if needed. Labs require 15 six foot tables, placed away from wall.

Room Entry: For all workshops that require labs, the speaker will need entry into the room to begin set up an hour and 1/2 before the workshop - with assistance from a representative from the facility who can help with set up. The sponsoring facility is responsible for registration of participants, monitoring of contact hours, distribution of products and handouts at the beginning of the workshop.

Workshop format: The workshop is timed and specifically set up to flow within the hours set up within the outline. If your facility requires individualization of time/workshop hours/format, etc - please work this out towards the beginning of the initial planning of the workshop.

Please note: The Handwriting Clinic is an AOTA approved provider of inservices. For inservices sponsored by facilities other than our clinic, your facility is in charge of CEU’s or contact hours, and we cannot give out AOTA certificates. It is your facilities responsibility to advertise and to provide continuing education credit. AOTA requires us to inform other sponsoring agencies that AOTA CEU’s cannot be given by our agency.
