?First Madame President

Is the United States going to insist on remaining “Gender Biased”?

By: Beth Schoren 9/28/15 MY OPINION

Page 2: First Madame President - Is There Gender Bias

Former President Bill Clinton is blaming Republicans and the media for the controversy related to wife and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s email controversy, saying the GOP has led a “full-scale frontal assault” on her campaign. Clinton entered the race as the clear party front-runner. But her poll and favorability numbers have dropped since news broke in March that she used a private server and email accounts for official business while serving as secretary of state (Weber, 2015).

For starters, it comes down to who you believe and what does the other person or party have to accomplish to win. So with that in mind, I want to say that my personal experience with Republicans is they are deceptive for a reason. Republicans have a political purpose in deception in order that they meet with their ultimate goal of domination. Image: (General Election Odds4/28/15, n.d.)

If you look at the Clinton's together as one body, one mind because they work in unison as a couple then I would consider them to have been very moral and ethical in behavior with only a dash of Image Left and right: (Yahoo Image Search, n.d.) cynicism. So that means that I would trust their words over anyone else who has something to gain by making someone look bad to the public eye.

Now as to the whole idea of Former President William (Bill) Jefferson Clinton being in the Whitehouse as "First Man" or "First Gentleman" [or whatever the debate ends up calling him] alongside the "First Female" President Hillary Rodham Clinton then I say this is a win-win for our country and beyond.

For starters, many Former Presidents are known for the efforts the "First Lady's" have done for their presidency. It is not uncommon for a First Lady to help influence a President just by mere relationship they hold as a couple. Let alone policies they start and positions they become "chair" to. For instance, Eleanor Roosevelt fought for civil rights and women’s rights, she was on the board of NAACP, a leader in formation of the United Nations, and she helped draft the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” and was the 1st chairman of the UN Human Rights Commission. So if you were to consider that a Former President would be in a position of persuasion with the President at hand then you have a really good solid presidential situation going on (Kelly,n.d.).

Now take a moment to visualize what it would be like if that "First Gentleman" were a Former President. Let's say Former President Bill Clinton was in the Whitehouse as "First Husband" of the United States of America. What would you expect out of his time while his wife were in office?Well, perhaps it would be a continuation of what he was able to do for our society while he was in office. Perhaps it would be that he had a few simple things in mind that he did not have time to work on while in office and this would give him an opportunity to do what he cares about.

Page 3: First Madame President - Is There Gender Bias

This could be really beneficial for us as a society to have a "First Husband" in the Whitehouse to help implement their own projects of importance.

If that helped to visualize what it might be like for a Former President to be in the Whitehouse and what they might accomplish together then perhaps it might be beneficial to visualize another thing.Let's say that some other female won an election to become President of the United States. She would not have the personal support of a successful Former Presidents repertoire at her disposal like Hillary Clinton would.

So now I ask you, would you want the First Madame President of the United States to be one who was already in the Whitehouse as "First Lady" and would have a "First Husband" as someone who already was proven as a useful President for our society? Image left: (Yahoo Image Search, n.d.), (Image - Hillary Clinton, n.d.)

Or would you rather elect your "First Female President" as someone who has not had either been in the Whitehouse as "First Lady" nor has the benefit of a close relationship with a Former President?

Secondly, we may be a young country but don't you think it is about time that our country show that we are NOT GENDER BIASED and not be afraid to elect our FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT?

If Canada can have a female Prime Minster can't we elect a female as well? (Canada's 19th Prime Minister, n.d.)

Since visual aids help people understand thing better then perhaps a visual of past presidents might be good for those reading. Here is a selection of past presidents in no particular order. Maybe you could play a game with all the pictures since they are not in order can you figure out who they are and first off spot Hillary.

Let’s Play some Presidential Games:A Presidential Game for the New Millennia

Spot Hillary – how fast did you do it?Write names of each President – row 1, left to right, row 2 and so onDo you know approximately what years they served in office? How do you think Hillary compares to the other Presidential faces?Who looks like Phil Collins?

Do you know which President was known for what?

Page 7: First Madame President - Is There Gender Bias

Answer at end under: “Do you know which President was known for what?”

Hillary and Obama think it is best you finish up!

So in conclusion, these exercises with the former Presidents was to help you see that Hillary fits right in to the “IMAGE” of being a President just as much as the next guy and maybe more since she already had the privilege of having been in the Whitehouse during President Bill Clintons two terms in office.

Afterthought, Benghazi incident occurred September 11, 2012 where 4 people are killed even after the CIA got some of them to safety (Burnett, 2015). During the 11 hours that Hillary endured in one of the Benghazi hearings several Committee Members commented on the $4.7 million dollars spent on the hearings (Lauter,2015) However, the Pentagon is reporting in 2014 that their cost to have Defense Department officials attend 50 hearings on the attack has cost them millions (Herb, 2014). On top of that there are reports that the IRS spent over $14 million in taxpayer money to accommodate the request that included over 600,000 pages (Easley, 2014).

Page 8: First Madame President - Is There Gender Bias

Now compare the Benghazi situation to the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center collapse where 2,595 people perished and 1,600 people lost their spouses and over 3,000 children lost their parents in the ordeal (How Many People Diedat 9-11, Twin Towers, World Trade Center , 2010). It is also found that over 18,000 people still suffer from dust causing illnesses (Newsround - How many people were killed on 9/11?,2011).

So that is September 11, 2012 = 4+ family v. September 11, 2001 = 25,195 persons

Then you have millions of investors that lost big money when the stock market closed down for security and loss of the buildings, aircraft, cleanup costs, infrastructure, heightened security, direct job losses, unrecovered property, loss of taxes, insurance losses and global losses not counted total over $2 trillion (How much did the September 11 terrorist attack cost America? , n.d.).

So two committees formed a joint inquiry to prevent further attacks that include 24 professionals. They reviewed 400,000 documents and performed 400 interviews including many about different terrorist groups and individuals. They concluded in a 24 page document on December 10, 2002 that no agency had information about the attack, made recommendations for combating terrorism and enacted the new “Department of Homeland Security” (Richard A. Best, 2003).

Now compare the two September 11th incidences of terrorism and make a logical assumption. Were these both dealt with fairly when considering the outcome each of these dates affected? Do you just maybe see that one was more heavily researched than the other? How many people’s lives were effected by each incident? Each cost? Was it rational? With the government being on yet another possible shut down was this recent money spent on investigations wise? Should a certain party or people have to pay part of this money back?

Was all the Benghazi fuss really necessary for 4 persons when not nearly the fuss was made over 9/11 victims? Scroll down for the game results.
