HIRING & BEYOND

Coders, typically, are roles synonymous with men inthe IT industry. Enter the Tecgig.com Code GladiatorFinale arena and you might change your mind. Despitebeing few in numbers, the fairer sex is gung-ho abouttaking up any coding challenge both, on and off the job.

This is what women coders have to say about theupsides and downsides of their profession:

Passionate about the job

“Traditionally, men are believed to be better codersthan women because apparently women are weak inlogical reasoning and analytical skills. But I don'tthink that's true. Most women leave coding jobs forbetter work-life balance, but there are women coderswho are really passionate and good at their work.”Supreeta Keminje, software engineer, AllScripts

Gender doesn't matter

“Coders are judged by their efficiency to deliver a goodcode. Gender does not play any role in this. CodingContests like TechGig Code Gladiators, help coders tobrush up their knowledge and become more confidentabout the work they do.”Trapti Mittal, senior software developer, Cvent

Breaking the myth

“Most people think that men are better coders thanwomen. But, it is a myth and women should not worryabout this. They should focus on delivering the bestcode they can.” Ira Aggarwal, senior software developer, Cvent

Good multi-taskers and better coders

“Women should not feel that they are less than men inanyway where coding is concerned. In fact, in my view, women turn out to be better coders than men as theyare good at multi-tasking.” Pinky Singh, Senior Software Engineer, Info Edge

A new generation of women armed with coding skillshave a great shot at joining the tech workforce or startingtheir own tech ventures
