‘STAY ALIVE’ SCRIPT

BEGIN “STAY ALIVE” INSTRUMENTAL <BY JOSE GONZALEZ>

INT. OFFICE CUBICLE – DAY

DAVID is sat at his desk, looking at a picture of a fishing boat hanging on

the wall in front of him

DAVID

(Face leaning on his right hand)

Sigh

As he stares at the picture frame, piles and piles of paper appear around

him. As the piles of paper appear the clock moves gradually around the face

in time with the music.

A small man (STANLEY) appears at the edge of DAVID’S office cubicle and

goes in his office that is directly behind DAVID’S cubicle.

DAVID looks down at the piles of paper in front of him and looks depressed.

DAVID starts sorting through the paper, bringing them down from the piles

around him and sorting them into a pile in the middle.

DAVID tries to get up and take a break from his boring job, yet the small

man, who turns out to be his boss (Stanley) is standing right behind him

making sure he gets back to work.

DAVID sits back in his seat as Stanley hands him a note telling him to go

and run some errands.

Stanley points at the exit and tells DAVID to go.

INT. INSIDE A CAR – DAY

DAVID is driving the car as we view his face side on.

We cut to a shot of the car driving past buildings.

DAVID continues to drive as he drives past building after building after

building, until eventually he leaves the city.

As DAVID continues to drives off he starts noticing all of these different

billboards that he’s passing that are advertising and promoting fishing

trips and fishing equipment i.e. rods and boats.

DAVID continues to drive on to focusing on the errands he has to run trying

to forget about the billboards and advertisements. As soon as he feels like

the distraction has gone he comes to a set of traffic lights.

The sound of muffled music gradually appears as a car pulls up alongside

DAVID. He rolls down the car window and takes a look.

He notices that the man looks rather worldly as if he had a lot of world

experience, travelling etc. He takes a second look and notices that he is

towing a small fishing boat behind his car.

The traffic lights turn green and DAVID speeds off down the road nearing

the first location.

Page 2: Final Script

As he drives he passes many lovely and exciting looking locations. He

passes many green mountains on the side of a river bank.

He then passes hills and gradually gets closer to the first location.

With the idea of fishing now firmly on his mind, he slows the car right

down before turning into the car wash.

DAVID pauses…

BEGIN “STAY ALIVE” FULL SONG VERSION <BY JOSE GONZALEZ>

He thinks back to his fishing boat photo hanging on the wall of his cubicle

and instead of pulling into the car wash he drives off again down the down.

He looks into his rear view mirror as he can see his old life fading away

into the distance.

His phone starts RINGING!

DAVID takes one look at his phone and throws it out of the window.

As the phone rolls across the floor DAVID also throws his tie out of the

tie and the tie falls onto the phone and covers the screen

DAVID gets out of the car and takes a look around. He sees a small village

and a sign pointing towards it saying ‘FISHING’ DAVID rejoices, leans

against his car and has a sigh of relief and happiness.

DAVID drives down to the village to take a closer look.

A fisherman is standing outside of some docks where there is a sign saying

“SALE!”

DAVID gets out of the car and goes over to the man with the intention of

buying a fishing boat off him.

DAVID realises that he has no money and so sadly starts to walk away

THE fisherman notices the car that DAVID has and offers him a trade for his

cheapest boat.

The fisherman shows DAVID the boat and it is the oldest, most run down boat

he has in his collection.

MUSIC FADES OUT

FADE IN

A shot of a radio appears with a hand leaning over to turn up the music.

MUSIC FADES BACK IN

DAVID is sat on the fishing boat that the fisherman offered to trade with

him and he is happy.

We pan out of the shot to reveal many other fishing boats and people just

like DAVID all sat fishing.

We pan up to the sun as the song comes to an end.

Page 3: Final Script

As the sun reaches the middle of the frame we fade out to white.

FADE OUT TO WHITE.
