Final Budget

Receipts: (CLOSED) Agape: $114.41

From Daniel Basquez, sent directly to core. Reimbursed 11/2/2014.

No other receipts from any group. It is important to note that many team members contributed with extreme generosity, and

that the totals above do not nearly cover what was spent in putting on this retreat. Bottom line, it would be inappropriate to assume this level of generosity on an ongoing basis -

this closeout should not be used as a basis to cut any team budgets for the following year.

No money was collected as part of “Sermon on the Amount” Retreatant evaluation forms were not available at the time. Have collected as many as possible in the meantime, but no money obviously was attached.

What Went Well Everything about the team.

Team recruiting was difficult again this year, but a outstanding team showed up. High contributions with zero drama from all team members All of the ministries and services were prayerful and powerful. Thanks to core for allowing David Lane to serve.

Some of the best talks I have heard. Team formation – focused on prayer from day 1. Litany of humility every week. No significant issues in any ministries or services.

Fr. Juan Carlos Marin as Spirtual Director Retreatants: I don’t have eval forms from all retreatants, but next

director should contact all Dallas-area retreatants for the next retreat. Hearing that out of area retreatants looking for ACTS opportunities in their areas.

Briarwood – Great operation to work with, even with new faces. Jean on vacation that week New contact – Lauren Roller. Excellent support as always Norm retiring – held small celebration

Organization – Yahoo Group Reception was wonderful. Thank you!

Areas to Improve Recruiting: See next slides Inventory: Missing inventory sheets, but all went OK. Checks: Missing first check for Fr. Khoi, was able to catch up the next

day. Inventory return: Difficult to get volunteers to commit to the

Saturday PM inventory return. While Fr. Juan Carlo’s role as Spiritual Director was wonderful and

much appreciated, we lacked a Spiritual Director on site for half of the retreat.

Return No mention of retreat at all during return mass Team song – working to get this better integrated into the rest of the Liturgy.

Ongoing community / development: Retreatants are all hungry to continue to meet / find ways to keep the fires lit.

Team

The team was made up of 19 team members, plus Fr. Juan Carlos Marin as Spiritual Director.

When the team was formed, we made a concerted effort to recruit primarily from St. Joseph’s Parish.

It took extra effort, but even with 3 mission retreats ongoing during our formation (St. Michael’s, St. Monica’s, St. Mary’s), we were still able to form a team of St. Joseph’s parishioners.

Church Attendance We had 15 retreatants come on retreat this year. Increase of 66% from last year Still below our standard of 20+ retreatants

from 2 years ago. Less than half of our retreatants are

coming from St. Joseph’s. This makes recruiting new team members

more challenging, as there are fewer to draw from.

66% of retreatants coming from Richardson / Garland / Dallas area.

Even though our retreatant numbers are up this year, we are still serving a large number of out of parish and out of area retreatants.

Two possible conclusions:1. We continue to see that we have effectively

saturated our parish – nearly all of the men who wish to go have gone.

2. We still are doing an ineffective job of recruiting.

Retreatant Recruiting:Conclusions We have 6384 adult men1 in the parish and 163 men

listed in our ACTS database2 from St. Joseph’s. This means we have only reached 3% of the St. Joseph’s

mail population. If the database is only 50% accurate, we would at best have reached 6% of the men.

Anecdotal experience from recruiting indicated a large number of men in the parish do not know what ACTS is.

3% - 6% is far below the double-digit attendance rates of some other parishes supporting ACTS. We have not saturated. We need to do a better job of personally inviting a broader base of people.

All documents used on this retreat are stored on a Yahoo Group server location. Membership to this Yahoo Group is required to access these files. I have made David Lane the owner of the Yahoo Group so that it

can be transferred to the next director. There are more categories than those listed, but here are

the main ones: Yahoo Group Team List / Retreatant List Registration Forms Services Scripts Ministry Guidelines Music – books, etc Evaluation Forms Miscellaneous Forms
