Rochelle Uechrtitz has been working with AEG Ogden for 14 years developing marketing strategies for its growing number of international convention and exhibition centres in Australia, Asia and the Middle East. Traditional marketing has gradually given way to new approaches on alliances, partnering with stake- holders including clients, global branding and positioning. Rochelle will share her observations of the changing expectations of clients and the ways centres are adapting to shifting market environments in this highly competitive field.

ASSOCIATING WITH ASIA

Stephan Wurzinger, Managing Director, Australia & Regional Director, Association Relations Asia Pacific, Middle East & Canada, MCI Australia Association meetings expert Stephan Wurzinger, talks to FYP about the growing Asian association market, and explores the potential of Australia working more closely with Asian colleagues on expanding the regional market. He also takes a look at the pressures on associations today which is flowing through to the meetings market, and how different models can be introduced to match both the organisation’s and the individual members’ needs.

Emma Bowyer, General Manager, ICMS Australasia Pty Ltd The World Parks Congress expects to attract between 3/4,000 delegates to Sydney next year in what is shaping up as an exciting integrated program pulling together government organisations, policy makers, major corporations, and regional partners. The PCO for this event will reveal the complexity of this once in 10 year congress which is promoting youth involvement as one of its major KPIs. The connection to regional Australia has been a key component of the program, with 16 approved field trips on offer. RESHAPING AUCKLAND'S CONVENTION BUREAU Anna Hayward, Manager, Auckland Convention Bureau Three years ago Auckland underwent a major restructure which saw its bureau emerge as a new division, separate from Tourism and Events. The new organization - Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) - is a council controlled organisation under the new Auckland Council super city restructure. This opportunity has allowed the bureau to cross leverage a broader scope of economic development. Hear how this new approach has paid off for the bureau, its members, and the city at large. Auckland has also faced the challenge of marketing a destination without a purpose-built convention centre. As plans are now underway for a new Centre, the bureau is gearing up for a major business boost in the years to come.
