REBUILDING OUR CHURCH
St. William ParishWalled Lake
From July, 2010 . . . . .
to today.
Asbestos was found under
the old, ruined floor.
The Church was sealed, and after the asbestos
abatement, re-construction began in
earnest.
THE FLOOR . . .
Under the floor, the heating pipes had been leaking for
years.
Causing the concrete floor to crack and break apart.
THE PILLARS
While saw-cutting the cement floor to make the repairs . . .
. . . it was discovered that the pillars were rotting . . .
. . . from years of wicking moisture from the ground
beneath.
Had it not been for last winter’s flood this would not
have been discovered.
The pillars were propped up . . .
and reinforced with a specially manufactured metal “shoe”.
THE ALTAR
The Altar area has been raised . . .
. . . and enlarged . . .
. . . resulting in greatly improved lines of sight.
It has new access . . .
. . . and a new storage area.
The former doors to the sacristy and work room were
bricked in . . .
for an overall cleaner effect.
The new door to the work room.
The choir is uplifted
THE CRY ROOM
The bricks removed from the cry room wall were used to fill in the former entrances to the sacristy
and workroom.
How did they move all those
pews
around safely?
Our handy Pastor designed and made
This “pew caddy”.
