GENRE
• Genre of our film is ROMANTIC COMEDY• Audience expectations
Characters need to be likeable so that the audience can relate to them • Protagonist is Nick• ‘Cheeky’ young male who females would find appealing• Can be seen in ‘Alfie’ and ‘John Tucker Must Die’
Set in bright lighting and/or around Christmas time• Matches light heartedness of film• Normally set outside whilst it is sunny• Featured scene where it had snowed (gives a sense of time moving on)

GENRE
Use well known pop songs and lyrics reflect story• Could not use well known songs due to copyright• Song that fit in well had French lyrics

Set in well known city• Many scenes of London to establish it is a British film

TEASER
Codes and Conventions of teaser trailers that we used• Short in length (normally 30-60 seconds)
- our teaser is 1 minute 22 seconds probably due to opening scene
• Features scenes that may not be in the film itself• Film name given at the end• Gives users an idea of what is going to happen in the film • ‘Teases’ them and prompts questions as to what obstacles
Nick has to overcome

Looked closely at ‘Alfie’ trailer:• Upbeat opening music• Scenes of main character speaking to the camera as well as voiceover• Slow motion of girls turning• Many scenes of the surroundings• Montage of images – smooth transitions

WEBSITE

Should probably have included actors names
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
Fonts• Used the font ‘Elephant’ for poster and website• Wanted to use it for teaser but was unavailable on Motion
Colour Scheme• Black and white• Pink colour to highlight certain parts
Imagery• Same image on poster and on website• Same clothing in trailer as in poster
Language• Tagline is quite typical of hedonistic young boys• Matches cocky language used in teaser
What have you learned from the audience feedback?
• Presented to a Year 12 Media Studies class• Helped to gain feedback from people viewing teaser for the first time• Class was our target audience• Would probably have asked past Year 13 Media students instead
POSITIVES NEGATIVES
Professional editing Transition between two songs could have been smoother
A clear storyline that runs throughout the teaser
Opening scene was filmed in an unrealistic location
Good choice of music and used correctly depending on the scenes
Scene at end did not make much sense
What I changed• Added a longer fade between two songs• Cut the scene at the end which did not make sense• Changed location at beginning of teaser
Why I changed these aspects• They are my target audience• Trailer must appeal to them in order to increase sales• Asked for feedback from 30 other pupils (there are only 3 people in our group)
What have you learned from the audience feedback?
