Final Cut Pro X Tools

We used the blade tool to cut our clips. This tool was really useful as it allowed us to split clips into different lengths depending on how long we wanted them. The majority of our clips were really long as we wanted to have as much footage to work with as possible, so it meant that we used

this tool a lot. It helped us get rid of sections of clips.

Another tool we used a lot to make our clips shorter was the trim tool. This was very useful because it meant that we cut easily trim the

beginning or the end of a clip. Because we had so many clips that were too long, it was really useful to have the trim tool to cut it down.

We mainly used one transition in our trailer and it was the cross dissolve transition. Unlike iMovie, Final Cut Pro X didn't have fade to black so instead we used a cross dissolve transition and had it fading into a

black frame so that it gave the effect of a fade to black transition. We

didn’t end up using this tool as much as we originally thought, the

transition was taking out too much from the end of the clips which we

didn’t really like as it made the clips even shorter than we wanted them.
