REEMBARQUE with Director Gloria Rolando
Presented as part of MoAD in the Neighborhood
Museum of the African Diaspora in partnership with Cuba Caribe, Global Exchange and the San Francisco Public Library presents a film screening and director’s talk.
REEMBARQUE (Gloria Rolando, 2014, 59 minutes, in Spanish with English subtitles) The peoples of African ancestry in Cuba have a rich and complex history. The voices of prominent historians join the memories of Haitians and their descendants in Cuba to understand a forgotten chapter in Caribbean history from the 18th century to the present.
Cuba-based documentary filmmaker Gloria Rolando will premiere and discuss her latest work in person and will be in dialogue with Cornelius Moore of California Newsreel.
