Cinematography & Camera Techniques

Some cinematography features that I have found throughout the opening sequence are aerial shot, this was use to show the view of the building. Another shot used was a close up to show the robber even though you could not see his face you could see they was wearing a mask. Other shots include medium shot to show the banker with the gun, Two shot showing that there is more than one robber in the scene. Also, a reaction shot was used to show the staff and customers reaction inside the bank. Some camera techniques used was a low angle to make one of the robbers look taller and more powerful when he was getting out of the car. A pan angle was used to follow the robbers running towards the bank and throughout the bank. When following the two men going down a zip wire from one building to the other this was a crane shot. Finally, another camera technique that was used was zoom to show the where the abouts of the character. Also, another example of where it was used was when one of the robbers was waiting for the car and holding a mask the camera zoomed towards the mask to reveal what it looked like so throughout the opening scene we could identify the character. We also see a zoom shot at the beginning of the film as the camera gets closer to the building to reveal what’s going on inside.

Visual Effects & Colour Scheme

The lighting was high key because the characters were outside for most of the title credits but even inside the bank was high key. This shows the audience that this is an action genre because you can easily see what is going on throughout the scene.

Genre Conventions I can evidently identify that this falls into the genre of an action because the scenes are fast paced and we can clearly see weapons and violence involved in numerous scenes.

Narrative This action film is about 5 masked unidentified men who are planning to steal from a bank for a man named the Joker. All 5 men have different skills that will benefit them when stealing from the bank, but they are unaware that they have all been given orders to kill each other once their skill has been required.

Editing Techniques Throughout the opening title credits I did not identify many editing techniques however; I did find two these include; Non-diagetic sound including Dramatic music in the background, glass smashing, the cross bow firing and the gun fire multiple times. Also, some sound effects I found include; the gunfire and the bus smashing through the glass window.
